UNREAL, GT being home team, decides to keep 26,000 tickets from Clemson Fans

Aug 19, 2022, 7:29 AM

And their fans too by closing off the entire upper decks of M-Benz stadium so it benefits their cause..to win!!

That's 26,000 less tickets that can't be used or sold (71,000 - 45,000 = 26,000).

This info is just being released now, to the public, mainly b/c a reporter asked about it!

Seems the entire world has gone corrupt to the core against its own just to get a leg uP.

And, there should be some heads roll over this and Dabo & ACC commissioner should have had a say imho!!

Lastly, for those saying it's their right to keep it a home game size (55,000), then the 45,000 limit at M-Benz is 10,000 less seats & revenue..and did it occur Tech fans could have had equal access to the 26,000 seats shut down in the upper decks.

Saying, the SEC would never have allowed this and surely is laughing at the ACC.

That's a lot of lost potential revenue for several entities in Atl.

ACC football at its best. Are we not trying or needing to grow the brand? Empty stadiums do not look too good on national tv.

Another reason to beat their brains out.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm a little shocked at people being shocked at this

Aug 19, 2022, 7:44 AM

GT is moving their home game and actually are trying to keep it like a home game. Having that stadium over half full of Clemson fans, which was likely if they opened the entire thing up, sort of defeats that purpose. They obviously felt that was more important than any extra revenue the additional tickets and crowd might have produced.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

True, this is not a normal so called neutral site game

Aug 19, 2022, 7:46 AM

IT'S A GT home game being moved to Benz Stadium. That's where people are getting confused,by NOT knowing.

which is 13,000 more than GT is offering for Labor Day game in Mercedes Benz stadium. Stupid !!!!

Would our fans really travel in *huge numbers* to play Ga Tech on a Monday night with a work day following? I guess my cynical self just doesn’t see it happening. Would love to know if people who want tickets are being turned away.

No. People just enjoy having things to #####

Since this game opens the season, I'm guessing the turnout would be good. I get the feeling some of you are not that excited for football season.

Opening game right down the road.

I’m ready to stand corrected, but lots of tickets are still

Aug 20, 2022, 7:46 AM

still available at or below face value at this point, so the proof will be in the pudding on game night.

The date, time, and location for this game is definitely “Made for TV” not attendance.

Re: I’m ready to stand corrected, but lots of tickets are still

Just a week or so ago . It was announced that the game was sold out? I guess more fake news.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The tickets are on the secondary market. That’s what I

However, it won't be a popular sentiment here on the TNets, where everyone is either scared of us or hates us or is conspiring against us.

Aug 19, 2022, 7:52 AM

They know Clemson would sell it out. The stadium would be a sea of orange and look more like a Clemson home game. GT is just trying to avoid getting embarrassed twice on the same night.

If you're scared, just say you're scared !!!

Just one more reason why their program is garbage, and to further compound matters, most of their fans who do show-up will be gone at halftime.

Can you blame them for wanting it to feel like the home game

Aug 19, 2022, 11:57 AM

that it is?

Also, I think you're making a huge assumption to think that we would sell out that stadium. Sure, there would be plenty of Clemson fans, but there would also likely be plenty of Georgia Tech fans too.

It's not a true home game for GT...

Aug 19, 2022, 12:18 PM

It's a neutral site game. The teams split the money evenly. Do they get to make that decision unilaterally?

I don’t think so. It’s a GT home game. They play one home game per year at the Dome for a 6 year contract.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We wouldn't sell it out though

If it were Saturday night, maybe, but I don't even feel confident about that. Monday night? No way. Our fan base bitched ENDLESSLY about Thursday night games in our own stadium. We played GT at home on TH night in both 2019 and 2013, and attendance was less than 80k for both.

Aug 19, 2022, 5:51 PM

...stores and companies trying to fool people with smaller packages at the same price - when if fact it would be more economical for all (and better on the environment) too to go to larger packages.... and I just realized the same thing for football teams - now football team wants to fool everyone by shrinking the seating package to create an aura of fullness.

But it fools no one at all, nothing authentic about it, nor any good long-term result.

It's laughable. Like I said earlier, we could offer GT 100 tickets next year, but 50 of those would be returned as unsold.

Metro Atlanta now has over 5 million people. Holding back 26,000 tickets to keep the visiting Tigers from having more fans just shows where GT stands in the big scheme.
They are the only Power 5 Conference team in ATL. The Varsity gets more customers at lunch than GT can get for a home game.

If I recall correctly, the article did read that gt had success against tar heels doing the same thing. They upset heels with the same situation. Isn’t about money, it’s about fan advantage in the dome I think. Guess they think it’ll work against Tigers.
