some friction between the Carolina Panthers and Clemson University during, or after that first season that was played in Clemson?

It is my understanding that the Panther organization was very happy with Clemson.
The Panthers originally reached out to U of SC to discuss using Willy B as their home stadium for their inaugural season. It is a bit easier to get from Charlotte to Columbia by way of I-77 so thought to be easy.
However, as per everything else with these fools from Columbia, they messed up the opportunity. Officials with Carolina wanted to know what was in it for them. What benefit would the Panther organization bring to their university.
Evidently it rubbed Panther officials the wrong way because they reached out to Clemson who gladly gave the Panthers a home stadium for season 1.
I was in attendance for the Panther's first win against the Jets on October 15th, 1995. I graduated from Clemson a couple of months later.
During the Panther's second season in Erikson Stadium, they painted a small Tiger Paw in the endzone in appreciation for what Clemson did in the first season.
Many years later, I have business dealings with Clemson people that were in positions to know and understand how all this story took place between the Panthers and Clemson.

It was 80+ degrees at kickoff, then a cold front whipped up at halftime and dropped to 40 something.
There were a bunch of shivering souls in t shirts and shorts by the end of that one.

Mark Richardson played for Clemson. They had nothing but respect for the university.

Back in 1992, Jerry, Mark's father, patriarch of the Richardson clan and former Panther owner spent the night in Clemson after suffering a horrid back spasm attack (or was it a gallbladder attack)? Anyway Jerry hired a massage therapist that night. Anyway, he had a hard time with her that night. He claimed the MT sexually assaulted him and disrespected him. From that day forward began Jerry's heated turmoil with Clemson and begot :the 1996 JR Embargo on Clemson Act—
Does anyone know the name off this predator massage therapist ?

I remember that episode. They tried to hush it up but it leaked out. I think Deshaun attorney used it as precedent in his case

There is no ill will between the Panthers and Clemson that would keep them from drafting a Tiger who would best help their draft needs.
The idea is nutty. New England hasn't picked a Tiger since 2003. Are they mad at us too?
