Going to UNC. Need parking advice.

Jan 20, 2014, 8:44 PM

Anyone have experience going to games in CH? (besides coming out with a lose). Most importantly arriving closest and cheaply as possible to the Dean Dome. Would love to witness history this Sunday!

Oh, and any bar suggestions in CH will be a bonus.

Can park anywhere downtown on Franklin Street or nearby

Went a few years back. Ate some good pizza on Franklin Street, then took the shuttle bus (Tar Heel Express) over to the arena. We lost, of course, but were treated well by the UNC fans while there. Took the shuttle bus back downtown, which took a while due to traffic, but easily got to our street-parked car and drove on out. Very easy. Only $5 for the shuttle bus round trip, and worth every penny.

a few options

Jan 21, 2014, 5:25 PM

there are some pay decks/ lots within easy walking distance of the Dean Dome; $5 / $10

problem is traffic can be tough as there are limited roads

someone suggested park and ride - options there too, the mall and off 54 or 15-501

if you want to spend some time downtown, i'd park near Franklin St and walk through campus

haven't been to any bars in many years

If you park in the parking decks be prepared to wait at

least an hour to get out. I would park and ride as was suggested earlier
