By the time I get a satisfactory answer

Mar 6, 2020, 10:47 PM

this may be buried by other riveting topics in the neverending Brownell saga.

My question is why am I being told Clemson should not expect to be consistently in the NCAA tournament? Why we can't get a coach who is any better than Brownell when in fact history shows this not to be true.
Oliver Purnell had us in the NCAA tournament his last 3 years. The following year after he left Brownell, with Purnell's players got us deep into the NCAA tournament. Yet Coach BB soon showed his lack of sustainability. I don't know all the reasons why Purnell left, but that seems to be an issue the BB support squad likes to use. A good coach ain't going to stay at Clemson...I call bs.

The only answer we seem to get is. A good coach is just going to use Clemson as a spring board. My reply to that is.. You're so certain of this, you refuse to believe a better coach exists for Clemson Basketball and that he could in fact fall in love with Clemson and wish to stay?

Or have we never had that coach?

Bill Foster and the jackarse Rick Barnes. Ellis wasn't bad... But it was different then. It has only gotten popular in the last 20 years. Bball was actually third fiddle behind baseball.

Oliver Purnell we were consistent. Or he left so he doesn't

count in your book? Purnell did more than your coaching buddy BB.

I don’t think BB got us deep into the tournament the following year OP left, from what I remember we beat UAB in the first four and lost to a mediocre West Virginia team in the round of 64
