Brent can come back and handle linebackers and special teams if he wants. Or be an analyst.

Right now he’s collecting $$$ for our NIL account while enlarging our footprint on the recruiting trail by establishing relationships with HS coaches in OK and TX. We have already begun to reap the rewards on this with Cade. Expect more of the same in the future. And when OK finally decides to give him the boot with a huge buyout he will be bringing OK’s best players with him via the portal. The reality is that BV is currently scouting the HS players from OK and TX and further evaluating them for Clemson once he gets them to OU to make sure they are a good fit for us.
You herd it hear first.

Doubt it!
Brent Venables is bringing a positive vibe at Oklahoma. I say he succeeds winning at least 10 or 11 games every making a New Years six bowl game every year. The question is will Oklahoma fans be ok with these result every year? With how things are right now it’s going be extremely difficult to make the playoffs every year. The SEC is going to put 2 teams in the playoffs almost every year. I even saw someone say they could put 3 teams in the playoffs. Ohio State and Clemson are going to be there too, so who knows if he’ll be at Oklahoma for more then 4 years. It just depends on what the athletic department and fans is satisfied with.

Those are some pretty high expectations. He better solidify the program before 2025. I don't see them moving to the SEC making his task any easier.

Texas a&m and Missouri both have better records since moving to the SEC, pretty sure Oklahoma will fare as good or better than those programs

Brent will do well at OU up to the point where they

get folded into the SEC with Texas. OU will then go the route of Nebraska - in a league that pays better but geographically doesn't fit, no longer the big fish in the small pond, then out-recruited into oblivion.

No. There is no evidence to believe Venables will not be an outstanding HC.
No hire is a guarantee. But, everything in Venables background should lead one to conclude that he will be extremeley successful at OU.
As for me. I'm rooting for him. OU will be my favorite SEC team the moment they officially join.

The only reason I see that BV may not succeed as a head coach is because he is such a game guy that he may not be happy and/or efficient at managing an overall program and having to deal with all the bs that HCs have to deal with. I think there’s a chance that he’s really gonna miss being as hands on as he always has been and that may affect his success as a HC.

and we'll all see how that plays out for BV over the next few years. That said, if things don't work-out for him at OU, for whatever reason, his prowess as a defensive defensive coordinator is beyond question, and he would likely have his choice of DC jobs.

Don’t believe he “tanks” but I don’t believe he will enjoy being the head coach. I m a huge fan and wish him all the best. But there is a huge difference in being a Defensive Coordinator and being a Head Coach at a big time program. Brent doesn’t enjoy dealing with the media. It’s a necessary evil in his eyes. Yet the HC is, first and foremost, the face of the program. He is also the CEO, which means dealing with hiring and firing and having to take the heat when things don’t go well. Winning 10 games a year is a given but that won’t get him National Championships at OU, especially after they get in the SEC. So I say he will be at OU 5 years or less and will go back to being a DC somewhere else. But I doubt that he will ever coach at Clemson again. Go Tigers!

Dabo isn’t taking anyone back I don’t think, unless there is an opening. Goes for Jeff Scott, BV, the Chad, TE. I just don’t see it happening.

I just cant wait to see him try to stay back off the field while head coaching. The sponsors are going to demand ESECPN keep the camera's on him the majority of he game. It will be entertaining for sure!!

Not unless Dabo leaves and he is the head ball coach. By the way, OK will not tank.

It's only possible if Dabo leaves, which I strongly doubt for love nor money, and Brent takes the head coaching job at Clemson.

I honestly hope not. I'm forever grateful for the job Brent did here in his 10 years here, as long as Oklahoma isn't playing Clemson I'll be pulling for the Sooners to win.
