another first year Head Coach in Edward Donahue, making Coach Wayne Hart a One Year Wonder. (The AD and / or BOT, if both existed, must not have been nearly as patient back then, Aye?)

This seemed to be a good move, as the Tigers responded with a Six Win season, tying for the highest victory total in a season up to that point in time. The Auburn Tigers spoiled what would have been an early undefeated Home Season. (With a World War going on, I doubt Pepsi would have thought that a big enough deal to put out a commemorative bottle anyway.) Securing the annual win over the Coots on Big Thursday in Cootlumbia, 21-13, added to the luster of the season.

Once again, we had a couple of interesting venues. We returned to the Orangeburg County Fairgrounds again, once again facing The Citadel. This time, the MiniDawgs were pounced upon by some angry Cats, 20-0.

We also played Florida, in Jacksonville. Seems like Florida has been wanting to play a game there every year for a long, long time. They didn't enjoy this one, though, as the Tigers smoked the Gaytors to the tune of 55-7. No truth to the rumor that Will Muschamps Grandpa was a Gaytor waterboy.

And, again, showing that college football had not nearly become the big business that it is today, we made true road trips to Furman and Davidson. All results of our 6-2 campaign are below:

At South Carolina W 21–13 (Clemson leads all time series 11-3-1)

The Citadel County Fairgrounds, Orangeburg, SC W 20–0
Florida Barrs Field, Jacksonville, FL W 55–7
At Davidson L 9–21

Davidson downed us in the last game of the season. They seemed to have a good team more often than not back then.

Of individual note, Clemson runner "Stumpy" Banks scored FIVE rushing touchdowns against Furman, for a Clemson All Time record. This record still stands today, although it would later be tied by Maxcey Welch against Newberry in 1930.
