I performed surgery on a stranger yesterday

on the lake.
This feller pulls up to us and says "I wonder if you guys can help me out". He had two treble hooks stuck in his leg.
He cut away a section of his pants with scissors. I got a pair of pliers, he did some cussing, and I yanked the sumbeaches out.
I keep a first aid kit on my boat, so I poured some peroxide on there and then applied a small bandage commonly referred to as a "bandaid".
And then everyone went back to fishing.
The End.

of going to the ER to have one removed from his knuckle....back then it was only $700.
I had a biggun go through my thumb. I used pliers to break off the barb and reverse it out.

I used to sell the pads for bandages converted into private label products (for CVS, WallyWorld, etc).
1st ever visit to that customer I made that mistake. Never made it again.
HTH, doc.

Did you go with the push through, cut barb, pull back

through method? Or did you just yank it (lol) out?
I guess it depends on if it was just buried or if it had turned back up some.
Were the barbs buried in there?

Did you have to push the barbs through and then cut them off?
Apr 22, 2022, 9:50 AM

Or just yanked them out. I was at a lake in Canada years ago and they flew us in on a single engine water landing plane. Tiny cabin. All the walleye and northern pike you could catch. My mom got a hook through the leg and we had to push the barb through and cut it. Also this was before cell phones so the only other option was to put the emergency flag on the dock and they flew over once a day to check for it.

And did you really need to cup the balls like Joey's tailor to get the hooks out? You probably could have had him leave the tighty-whities *on* and had the same effect.
