One thing I would like to see from Thomas Austin

Jan 6, 2022, 4:23 PM

is more bite and less bark from our offensive line.

I’m so tired of hearing the machismo from our offensive linemen about how tough they are and how they like to hit people. We always seem to have at least one outspoken offensive lineman every year who talks a big game, but routinely ends up on his behind. Just shut up already.

I don’t want to hear any talking from our line until they can consistently do their jobs. Here’s to better coaching moving forward to help them do that.

Couldn't agree more. I hope the regime change will lead to more physical play, playing through the whistle and a crap ton less ole blocks...

Talking about playing through the whistle. Our most aggressive blocks always seemed to be right after the whistle. (i.e. Cheez-It Bowl)

Coot! Go cheer for another team.

Robbie Caldwell was the best OL coach in CFB history!!! You think you could have done better?!?!?

I think Caldwell was a great coach, but there has been decline as he got older and I think Coach Austin is going to be amazing.

It would be a fun charity fundraiser...

for you to get in the ring with an o-lineman and tell him to shut up to his face. I would be willing to sign a waiver agreeing not to sue you if one of your teeth hit me on the 4th row. We could use the money raised to pay players.

IMHO FM, the Judge's desire is to see our OL play tough against competitors on the field their own age -- not fat TNet couch potatoes who are 30-40 years older.

What about when they post tick tocks of each other making behind-fhe-back half court shots?

And then they get in a game and can’t make a 5-footer.

"Clemson center Tommy Sharpe, who says he vomits almost every game, threw up on the football during a snap. And after Sharpe lost his breakfast, the quarterback lost the ball." I loved that guy drank many beers with him on Hartwell during my time at Clemson. Good dude. I'd like to see him return to Clemson and coach he was a fiery dude and a walk on. Undersized but kicked a lot of big Dline butts.

Agreed. A lot of talk about how the O line was going to be good because they face Clemson's great D line in practice. Iron sharpens Iron. Then the GA game came and they got demolished. Sometimes a different voice can make a big difference. I'm hoping for great improvement next year. Go Tigers

A lack of talented upper classmen is hard for any coach to overcome. Being another year older might actually help this group next year. Coach Austin will have a lot to work with.

Interesting post.
You say you want something from Thomas Austin then go on to criticize players for their lack of toughness and macho attitude and tell them to shut up.
It is fair to say that you want Austin to work toward your theory of how the offensive line should perform.
Interesting you took another shot at Clemson’s football players - not your first.

Would I like to see a better offense? Absolutely.
Am I going to tell the hard working offensive line “to shut up”. Nope.

Somehow you have some rules about going after individuals on the football team - but get upset when it happens in other sports. Interesting.

Got it… so when they’re interviewed

Jan 7, 2022, 1:27 AM

They should just say “coach Brownlee told me I can’t talk until we get more roughing penalties.”

Our line wasn’t great, but was very good at times and was dealing with injuries and fewer available bodies because of poor roster management. They’re kids doing their best, and they’ve won 10 games every year.
