A SERIOUS THOUGHT

The Wide Receiver group/individuals are only as good as how well the QB throws the ball to them (accuracy & timing).
I’ll leave it at that….

The nc state game ended with the ball landing within reach of our receiver at the goal line. I think it was Ross, and maybe he lost the ball in the lights. I think we would’ve won.
Then if a ball doesn’t bounce off Shipley’s hands, we take a big lead at Pitt and probably win that one too.
I’ll say we still lose to Uga. But…oh nevermind…
So there are two catchable balls that could have made it a 11-1 regular season. Then we probably win the league and head to the playoff at 12-1.

And the receivers have to be at the correct place at the right time, or it just looks like a bad throw. Route running is essential.

And these receivers need to learn to fight for the ball. Mike Williams needs to come talk to them.

I remember Dabo blaming a lot of DJ's INTs last year as receiver issues. Also our blocking on the perimeter by receivers last year was borderline nonexistant. Least physical receiving corps at Clemson that I can remember lately.

There was enough poor execution last year to spread the blame around (if you are a person who must affix blame to someone). I’m pretty sure Dabo said the receiver ran the wrong route on the pick six in the GA game. That could have contributed to DJ lacking confidence to put the ball where it is supposed to be going forward. I’d bet he missed on some passes too but I’ll trust Dabo’s assessment over what I read here any day.

That might have been the biggest play of the year. Too bad it was not a positive one.

I guess I'm wrong... the receivers never ever run a bad route. The whole offense had plenty of blame last year. I just hope they're much improved this year. Go Tigers!!!

We as average fans who weren't at practice or in the huddle know whether the WR ran the wrong route or the QB made the wrong read/bad throw. Everyone on offense needs to improve from last year for this team to reach its goals.

for me, it wasn't the bad throws or poorly ran routes... it was the eternity it took for DJ to do anything.. even handoffs looked slow.. when he would drop back and decide to run, he'd have to set his feet for "takeoff". he was just too slow.

Reminds me of Kelly Bryant's WR screen passes. They took FOREVER to get to the receiver and never worked. TL stepped in and started throwing bullets out there, the offense ran so much smoother.

if the Buses can get them to the stadium .. and the busses are only good if they can get gas.. and gas is only good if you can buy it.
SO really Clemson's entire season depends on Putin..

That's how that position goes. WRs are dependent on the QB.

Clemson fans can't have it their way on both sides of this conversation.
When people point to DJ's success as a freshman in his 2 starts, the rhetoric is that Rodgers, Powell and ETN saved the day and that DJ was just as inaccurate with poor mechanics in his freshman year as he was in his sophomore year.
When people point to the dropped balls and inconsistent routes during DJs sophomore year, the rhetoric is that WRs can't make anything happen without a QB who performs his side of the play well.
So, which one are we going to stick with?

Why don’t you get off DJ’s back for a day or two? Better yet, why don’t you attend practice and show him how it’s done. I think you’ll find it’s a bit harder to throw a football with 4 or 5 250-300 pounders charging at you than it is to throw a nerf football to your kid in your backyard.

That's weird, I thought his NIL deals pay him to show his face and maybe sign an autograph or two in the hopes that it would help the company turn more of a profit from college football fans that like the ads.
I'm pretty sure it is written in the NIL laws that the deals can't be written in any specific terms of athletic performance or achievement tied to the compensation.

Pointless response. People - fans - are allowed to comment on things even if they can't "do them better". If the world worked on your model, nobody would speak.

We had multiple passes hitting receivers in the hands. Timing as far as back shoulder throws was the worst I have seen in years. DJ missed throws buts let not pretend we had what we have had at receiver. Fix all those issues run the ball.

top WRs and bottom WRs on the SAME team? How is a starter named over a non-starter? Luck? I mean, if individual WRs are only as good as how well the QB throws the ball to them then wouldn't YOU be an NFL HOFer with the right QB?
