Thought about this while perusing tnet today...
“Named after psychologists David Dunning and Justin Kruger, the Dunning-Kruger effect is a type of cognitive bias that causes people to overestimate their knowledge or ability, particularly in areas with which they have little to no experience.“

the study examined a bunch of nerdy English majors about nerdy English.
It is a well reorganized fact that if you buy a sports jersey, you automatically become and expert.. especially if you wear it in public. It is called the Nike effect.
That is why they cost so much.

I’m not a Psychologist, but I beat Dunning and Kruger to this by almost a decade.
My oldest child was born in ‘89, and she will swear that I taught her about it repeatedly, but I called it The Nature of Knowledge. Basically you don’t know what you don’t know, so you don’t know that you don’t know.
There’s also a Persian proverb to that effect, but it’s too complex for me to remember.
