Buffett last night in Charleston....

May 12, 2017, 9:50 AM

JB never fails to entertain. The man is 70 and still cranking it out.

I saw my first Buffett concert when I was a junior in HS many many moons ago, took my girlfriend (now wife)when we were juniors at Clemson and converted her into a fan, fast forward a few years and took my parents (both since passed)to see him at Carowinds. Then kids came and we caught him once or twice through the past 10-15 years.

All of those were great memorable (some a bit hazy) concerts but last night was truly special...We took our (2) youngest daughters, one is a junior at Clemson and the other will be a freshman next year, and they had a blast. Just wish our oldest (CU '14) could have made it, but she is seeing him next week in West Palm.

There's no real point to this post other than to say...cherish every moment with your kids! Because in a blink of an eye you can go from singing "Mother, mother, ocean..." as you rock them to sleep, to watching them sing Margaritaville at the top of their lungs on a clear Charleston night.

Sorry no pigs of girlfriends, daughters, or wives.

I've seen Buffett in concert at least ten times....

most of which were back in the old days at the Carowinds Paladium.

Good times to be sure

Those were some of my favorite concerts at the Palladium. We'd stay at the Holiday Inn across from Carowinds then walk over. Not sure I could survive that experience now.

May 12, 2017, 10:11 AM

I was lucky to survive it the first time.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

Seen him many times, mostly during summer in MD/VA amphitheaters, and most recently last April in Charlotte.

JB in fact reminisced of the Carowinds concerts last year and how much he loved performing them, and the roller coasters! Finished up last year with a tribute to Prince with "Purple Rain". Also played some Dead (Scarlet Begonias) and Van Morrison.

Dude knows how to entertain for certain -

Aside from an awesome show last year kicked off by Huey Lewis, the one thing I learned from last year's event is that grown men and wimmen folk and Cuervo Gold in large quantities do not mix ... I really cannot believe how bad drunks some folks are... (this was WELL BEFORE the show started).

Incredibly expensive. Until they fix that process, I won't be around. Saw him with The Eagles and was a Great show. I don't know how young people can pay those kind of prices. Rant over.

Saw him at Tillman hall back in 70s

May 12, 2017, 11:05 AM

I was a sophmore in HS, and my friend's sister was at CU. People were climbing in through the windows, and bringing in cases of beer. I was just too young too appreciate it. Have seen him many times since, but you never forget the first.

Saw him open for Eagles in '75 and

had never heard of him. Saw him in Tillman in '76 and he blew the roof off.

I've been hooked ever since. Many great concerts, but most wasted at Carowinds. At my last one in Houston, my daughter and I built a full size palm tree for the back of my truck.
