Mayfield just threw an interception and the guy took a knee and no one touched him. He then got up and went in the end zone so in my opinion he was not down so could it have not been a safety.

up. Bigger issue was the PI not called on the interception.

I didn't see the play, but it is my understanding the rule is if you voluntarily take a knee (or otherwise fall to the ground) you are immediately declared down. Same thing that happens when a player catches a kickoff in the endzone and takes a knee.
