Breaking the GOR

I’m guessing that none of us lees lawyerly folks have the correct answer for this. I’ve done a fair amount of reading on this as I’m certain most others have as well. From what I’ve read even 8 members voting to dissolve the conference wouldn’t release you from this. However having 8 members agree to hold the rest of the conference hostage until they agreed to the release may have leverage. While not directly holding all the cards coming up with some knew crazy scheduling excluding the lesser teams may have some validity. Just a thought.

The 8 members would vote to dissolve the conference, not just the GOR. If there’s no conference to hold the GOR, the media rights return back to the schools. ESPN’s deal is with the ACC, not the individual schools.
