A good SS and 1st baseman. Some pretty decent pitching. Looks like a total retooling though.

top 4 current Braves

SS- Simmons- Best defensive SS in baseball, unreliable at the plate. He hit .244 last year.
1b Freeman- by far the best player on the team and in line to take Chipper's place as the face of the team. He needs to improve hr total if he is gonna be in the 3 hole. C/OF Gattis- he is rumored to be on the block, if he stays could move to lf. He has a lot of power potential at the plate, he hit 22 homers last year second only to Justin Upton. He will be a defensive liability wherever he plays.
OF Nick Markakis- the free agent is coming off of neck surgery during the offseason. He could become the new leadoff hitter or replace Heyward in the 2 hole. Solid player in years past, but the amount of money he is being paid plus the surgery leave a lot of questions.

i doubt we see gattis in a braves uniform by the spring. look for the braves to trade him to an american league club (astros or rangers likely)

I doubt Gattis is there myself, I believe they will try to get rid of BJ or Chris Johnson in any trade involving Gattis. Once Bj's and Uggla's contracts come off the books, they'll be in a lot better financial state to make major improvements.

Doubles machine driving in runs and getting on base for the clean up hitter.
The top 4 IMO are Simmons, Freeman, Kimbrel, Teheran.
Also, these might be the only good players on the team.

They let heyward go. I'm about done with the braves. I like stability and knowing that the team I watched last year at least has a majority of players return this year.

The new gm philosophy is to win with pitching, defense, and hitting for avg. I like Upton andHayward as players but they had a lot of strikeouts. if you look at the two new outfield acquisition they hit for high average and have good speed. The new pitching has a lot of potential and a lot of years of team control. He is trying to build the team his way. People forget the braves are small market team with a lot of money owed to two players. One player is producing and the other isn't even in the organization anymore.

I think Gattis is almost a lock to stay now that Upton is gone. By the same token, there are teams that would love Evan, so his price will rise and maybe someone will make a 'deal you can't refuse'. I don't follow the AL enough to know what team that would be...and what they have in return.
The key will be, who can protect him and Freeman in the order. If they can get some quality swings, then despite retooling, the Braves can be a .500 club...perhaps a bit better. One can never discount pitching and defense (left field aside! LOL!)

Baseball in this era is going to be, to me at least, very entertaining. I love speed in the sport. Contact hitters and speed will be the rebirth of the sport. See the KC Royals for example. Every pitcher throws 93+ now - getting on base is priority numero uno and those that can turn a single into a double will be invaluable.

I'm not happy either. said they were not trying to compete for a pennant this year. He77! lets just forfeit and get ready for next year or whenever they think they are ready to be competitive again. They have done nothing but have fire sales since Turner sold them.
