Boyd's new blog is very telling

Nov 5, 2014, 6:44 PM

I definitely miss him. He was a class act on & off the field & represented the university very well. Plus, his mom is absolutely awesome!

such a dis-service for the players like Boyd. We (fans/society) has treated them like the second coming of some kind of savior from early high school until after college. When the reality of their true place in the football world descends upon them, they have no way to process the the situation.

As much as I love Clemson football, it makes me sad that we have young men leaving our college (better than most) with a completely unrealistic expectation of what real life is like.

I love TB, and thank him for what he has done for Clemson and me as a fan. I wish him a wonderful life, but it may be outside of football.

I love that he stayed his senior year to get the degree

and for "unfinished business", but I can't help but think he may have been a 2-3 round pick had he left on a high note his junior year (when he balled out against LSU).

I hope he finds peace and happiness whether its in football or out. I am sad to read he, like a lot of us, deals with depression. He is an awesome young man And I pray for the best for him! God Bless you Tajh!

I hope TB's career, whatever it may be, is fulfilling for him. I wish the same thing for all students, athlete or not. I believe this blog does add some credence to the full scholarship being a pretty nice source of payment to college athlete-students. TB probably sees it being worth more now than perhaps he did in college. Good luck to him.

All athletes who play in college and beyond...

Nov 5, 2014, 8:28 PM

Are hit with the harsh reality that at one time you were so good at your craft and now you face the 'real world' where there are so many others you now face who are even better at their jobs. It's tough to face for a lot of athletes.

I love Tajh and find his blog very sad. He represented our university exceptionally well, and he will always have my support.
I wish him nothing but the best, wherever life takes him.

Pretty good writer!). The path may not be one he expected but I think he will lead a very successful life.
I wish he knew that Clemson people love him for more than just his football skills. While his football skills were all most of we're privy to see, the fact he returned for his senior season and the way he always conducted himself was to be admired.

I do not know Tajh personally but in seeing him deal with the media during his time at Clemson I see him possibly as a college football analyst. Some Clemson influence in that arena would be good.

I was thinking that last night, after reading his blog. He's a good writer and always has had that charm with the media and the cameras. I think he'd be a great analyst or commentator - or even a color guy for our broadcasts.

I'd advise him to stick it through for a year or two and do hope he makes it. I think there is a right fit for him out there in the NFL though, he just needs to find it. But in the event that NFL doesn't work, I think he'd be great in front of the cameras.

It's just a setback Tajh - you'll get through this and shine though! It's hard to appreciate the high points if you never have to ride out some lows.

If that train wreck Garcia can be on T.V. I know Boyd with hes presence and charm can do it 100 times better . Hold on Tajh the ACC network will be up and running soon.

Very impressed with the writing. He writes much better than 95% of Tigernet.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not sad at all! Tajh isn't writing his resignation letter.

Nov 6, 2014, 9:34 AM

He's not a quitter and this is not a farewell blog. He's just setting the groundwork for the success story to come. Just watch. His road may not be the one he expected, but he knows where he's going and he knows he's going to get there. His are the words of a man of strong character who embraces adversity as just another reason to work harder.

And for those who read into this blog some indictment of Clemson football for not preparing student athletes to face the real world, you need to read it again. The easiest thing would be for Tajh to quit in abject bitterness, spewing venom and blaming everyone and everything around him. That's not what I read in this blog. I read the words of a determined man. He's transparent enough to let us see the true Tajh. It may be hard for some to read that a Clemson hero has suffered some self-doubt, but his experience at Clemson has contributed to the already strong character he brought to the table. Clemson didn't create a person of integrity, but Clemson gave him the perfect atmosphere to grow and develop. He brought plenty of character with him to Clemson and left with even more. Just watch.

The Tajh Boyd story is nowhere near complete. He won't stop trying to go through doors until there are no doors left. His brand of determination will be rewarded. He may never be an NFL Hall of Famer, but it won't be due to quitting. Tajh will always make every one of us Clemson faithful proud. Sometimes it's not measurable success that defines a man, but the character he displays through the pursuit of his goals. Whatever Tajh winds up accomplishing, he'll accomplish with integrity. He's the kind of guy I would never bet against or write off as finished because he won't quit until he has given it every ounce. I've known some gifted athletes who never fulfilled their potential for lack of character or work ethic. I've also known some athletes who weren't nearly as gifted, but embraced the fact they had to work harder than the other guy and paid the price for success. Quitters don't succeed. Tajh is no quitter.

We'll some day be blessed to read a blog about how he rose from his lowest point to his highest. It may be through making it in the NFL and it may be through finding another path to success. We don't have to worry about Tajh. I'm betting he has an NFL career. I'm certain he'll make a success of his life. And I know without a shadow of doubt that Tajh will always make me proud.

The definition of awesome!

Wow, very well said!

Nov 6, 2014, 9:44 AM

I agree that Tajh will never quit and will keep working towards his goal. He never quit on Clemson. He came back and got us our first orange bowl win since 81. He gave us everything he had (especially in that LSU game). Very proud of him. Couldn't of asked for a better QB on and off the field during his career at Clemson.
