Bowl scenarios....

Nov 11, 2013, 3:40 PM

If we lose to USC, are we destined for Chick-fil-a Bowl?

Do we have to beat them to get a BCS bid?

If FSU goes to the national championship game, does the Orange Bowl have to take an ACC team?

I've heard different answers on this. What's the real deal?

My take

1)If we lose to USC, are we destined for Chick-fil-a Bowl?

Probably, though a close loss may leave the door cracked a bit.

2) Do we have to beat them to get a BCS bid?

See #1

3) FSU goes to the national championship game, does the Orange Bowl have to take an ACC team?

No, not at all.

The Orange Bowl woud not have to take an ACC team....

Nov 11, 2013, 3:44 PM

with either of its two at-large picks if FSU ends-up in the Championship game but they would likely take an 11 - 1 Clemson team. A late season loss would likely completely eliminate Clemson from BCS consideration.

If we win out, we go to a BCS bowl

Nov 11, 2013, 3:50 PM

Probably even if FSU loses the ACCCG

If we lose to SCar we're headed to another Chick fil A bowl....whoopty doo

If we win out we WILL get a BCS bowl......either sugar or orange

if FSU goes to the national title i don't think the orange bowl has to take an ACC team.

The Sugar would not be able to take Clemson....

Nov 11, 2013, 4:44 PM

without the consent of the Orange Bowl.

Consent? I thought it was just a matter of order or

sequence and Orange is before Sugar this year. I thought I read that somewhere...but it really doesn't matter much after January since the whole thing changes.

depending on losses in front of us and rankings...the Orange can still take Clemson with a USC loss....

but I am confident in our Tigers....we are going to beat USC Columbia....

If Bama and FSU are in the title game....

Nov 11, 2013, 4:49 PM [ in reply to Consent? I thought it was just a matter of order or ]

wit hBama ranked No. 1 and FSU ranked No. 2, the Sugar would have the first pick followed by the Orange.

However, there is a rule that prevents a bowl from selecting a team that is in the same concerence as those in the title game without the consent of the bowl tied to that conference.

They rotate it. This year Orange is first

From BCS site:

January 2014 games - Orange, Sugar, Fiesta

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's right...unless....

Nov 11, 2013, 5:25 PM

Bama (No. 1) and FSu (No. 2) are in the title game in which case the selections would be

Sugar, Orange, Orange, Sugar

Ah. Yes, I had to read it as if I were an attorney

Nov 11, 2013, 5:34 PM

The fine print about two bowls losing teams to NCG:

If two bowls lose host teams to the NCG, each bowl will get a replacement pick before any other selections are made. In such case, the bowl losing the No. 1 team gets the first replacement pick, and the bowl losing the No. 2 team gets the second replacement pick.

Now you've got it brother.***

from my understanding........

Nov 11, 2013, 4:48 PM [ in reply to The Sugar would not be able to take Clemson.... ]

and tell me if i'm wrong

the ORANGE "picks" first as far as the at large bids are concerned.

if the ORANGE picks, let's say oregon, and passes on clemson first round.........the sugar still has to get permission if they wanted us (which i don't think they'd take us first anyway)????

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If bama is ranked No. 1 and FSU No. 2

Nov 11, 2013, 4:51 PM

the Sugar would have the first at-large pick followed by the Orange.
