Next Year's Out-of-Conference Schedule

2

Mar 15, 2023, 7:08 AM

Now that the Brownell hoopla (no pun intended) is behind us, does anyone know when the out-of-conference schedule for next year will be set? Surely the Tigers will learn from this year and schedule some non-cupcakes...

How do you know in advance whether a team will be good or not? Just because a team was good one year doesn’t mean they will be good the following year.. I think that we saw that with this years schedule. Several of the teams we played were good the previous year. When you get into the early season tournaments you may not have a say so as to who you will play. Clemson may be invited to play in the Maui Classic for example and play a team ot two that really isn’t good. Clemson may schedule a game with Texas and they turn out to be a lousy team. Scheduling ain’t easy but hopefully things will fall into place next season.. Hopefully the Tigers can recruit a top notch point guard too.

Brad's history shows that every good year he has the very next year they tank.

2010-11 NCAA First Round -- 2011-12 (16-15)
2013-14 NIT Semifinals -- 2014-15 (16-15)
2017-18 NCAA Sweet 16 -- 2018-19 not horrible but 9-9 in ACC
2020-21 NCAA First Round -- 2021-22 (17-16)

I'm calling it now 16 to 17 wins total next year.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

I agree w/ you 110%, but

don't try to tell this to the sportswriters who have their "way-to-early Top 25 ranking".

Most of these rankings have no business being published.

Clue me in. I log on to a Tigernet to learn from you pros. Are you a West Virginia mountaineer by the way?

I was calling the OP clueless because he apparently thinks we schedule cupcake teams on purpose.

I am an App State mountaineer.

I won't go into personal attacks as you did, but I have seen many of your previous posts. We'll leave it at that...

Clearly we do schedule more cupcakes than most P5.
I would rather lose to a decent school than play the teams we did.

I wonder which part of the schedule hurt more - the OOC or the in conference? If Louisville, BC and other conference schools continue the slide that likely hurts more. Of course losing the OOC games will put you too far behind if they end up as weak as they turned out this year so win those and write them off as not even counting overall.

I think the OOC schedule. Lunardi said the biggest factor in not putting us in was our weak OOC schedule.

Boston College is actually turning around and L'ville ...

they are not going to put up with that for long. Boston College beat Clemson this year you know

Both.
The OOC was horrible.
Losing to Q3 and Q4 in conference also hurt.
