Boston College and Andre Williams

Good morning TigerNet!

I'm pretty stoked about being back in The Valley this weekend!

We have a fairly decent BC team coming into Clemson this weekend, and they have a back in Andre Williams who leads the league. I am not as concerned with stopping BC's rushing attack some of y'all, but I do see it as an opportunity for our team to improve against a talented back.

FSU will come in with a more impressive backfield; so I think this week will go along way in seeing how prepared we are to defend the run. I believe last weeks 300+ rushing yards was more circumstantial and can be cleaned up, but we'll see.

Any thoughts on this?

It seems like it's always one type of running play per game

that gives us trouble. Against Georgia we couldn't stop the toss-sweep (luckily they only ran it twice), agaisnt NC State we couldn't stop the jet sweep, and then against Syracuse we had trouble with the zone-read. Hopefully, we can figure them all out before FSU because I am certain they'll come at us with all types of runs.

I was very surprised that UGA abandoned the toss sweep.

I'm not as great with the X's and O's as I once was, but it seems to be a contain issue. I wonder if that's due to our scheme/game plan (we attack/defend one area at the expense of another) or if it's discipline?

Thought Syracuse running back led the league***

If you listened to 'Cuse players, then they are...

...all-everything. The reality is Williams leads in rushing yards, is Top 10 in yards/attempt, and is tied for 1st in touchdowns.

they're still BC....game shouldn't be in question***

Agreed - I'm not questioning the outcome at all.

I believe it'll be another sound win (40's - 10's). I'm just curious as to how we'll adjust to the run.

Looking ahead, we face quite a few teams that successfully run the ball. I believe it's vital for the defense to show progress in this area prior to the 2nd part of our schedule.
