Anyone that has been around Clemson for any length of time knows that the board makes any major decision, athletic or academic. The administrators make recommendations. Sometimes they are followed, sometimes not.

Lol, that is cute. That puts us on par with VCU that spent $25m for just practice faculty upgrades and then another 50+12 mill for the Stu.
UVA DOUBLED that back in 2006....more than tripled that in inflation dollars.... and that was before their bennett run

I'm not sure UVA is your best example.
They almost lost their baseball program (and possibly others that I'm unaware of) and had to rely on boosters funding the program outright for a couple of seasons because they overspent on basketball.
The same UVA baseball team that won the CWS almost had their program shut down a few years prior because of poor handling of money within the athletic department.

Sounds like when they were hiring Elliot it had been discussed that their football facilities were sub par as well. I will say their basketball money paid dividends for a couple of seasons but everything else besides rowing is not doing so well.

How has the LJ upgrade translated into wins and losses? LJ had to be renovated to prevent the basketball program from either further decline. You can put a pig in castle, but it's still a pig.
