The fascinating part is that Meadows has always played both sides of the fence. He's always been known for leaking like an absolute sieve to the press...and then he'll turn around and play Machiovelli for the other side, talking them into all sorts of sketchy stuff. Which he then in quiet "It's a big secret" fashion rats them out to the press for. The guy is sort of a compulsive Judas, and an odd sort of sociopath who switches lies without so much as batting an eye, it's weird.

Ah, the Trump Admin. Only the best people.

Honestly, it's why I think the Trump Fascist fears were a bit overblown. Not because Trump didn't have a Strong Man complex, but because the people around him were so fundamentally stupid and incompetent they lacked what it would take to pose a true traditional threat. Instead, their incompetence and lies just undermined faith in elections, which has its own fallout (starting with losing Georgia senate seats).
