For you Flag Football coaches, listen to Dabo and understand numbers are important. Our problems are not in recruiting they are in players getting hurt. Good luck with the Portal because there is a reason a couple of thousand players are in the Portal, they aren't good enough to play at top schools.

Speaking from experience....build a "great" two deep offensive line, and even a average QB or RB will shine... It is and always will be the most important foundation too every CHAMPIONSHIP Team!!

Scholarship numbers get low when there is players on a full ride scholarship that will never see the field throughout their college career with the exception of going in on a few snaps after the game winning score is locked down. I would be almost willing to bet that if, the fat was trimmed off with kids on full scholarships that will never play a down of game depth FB, or those playing baseball that never panned out well enough to be used on their depth roster, there would be enough scholarships available to keep our FB program in the top 5 year in, and year out. Dabo is great for our FB program, but in some occasions, he is just a bit to soft!!!!
I'm positive that there will be some hitting there TD selection bc they just don't want to hear it, but, I do challenge them to click on 2021 roster, and you will see juniors and seniors on the roster that didn't play any meaningful downs last years, and we had a lot of injuries last season leaving the team short on depth that could actually hold one of those spots down!!!! You will see names that you've never heard of!!!!

Respectfully, I don’t see that. There may be names on the roster, but in looking at scholarships, I see Will Sweeney and Tyler Venebles. Both have contributed to the team. Clemson doesn’t have a program that pulls scholarships or runs off players that don’t live up to football expectations. It’s a two-way commitment. Additionally, Dabo has been clear that he favors awarding three to four 1-year scholarships to walk-ons. This encourages competition and drive. I think these are strongpoints of our program, and it is Dabo’s culture that brought two National Championships to CU. I’ll throw in my personal opinion on scholarships : I would rather us offer a few more walk-on scholarships in 2022 as opposed to locking up a scholarship for 4 years on a player that was never on our original recruit board. Then use those scholarships on the ‘23 class.

Bet Dabo wishes they would have pursued the UVA center now

The guy (forget name), expressed interest in Clemson immediately after announcing his Transfer and Dabo didn't reciprocate immediately. Pretty sure he went to Michigan and the guy was All ACC Conference if I remember correctly?
So focused on only having 15 OL, yet he always has 4-5 schollies for walk-ons even while a Veteran All Conference Center would be greatly more valuable.
Maybe last season and half has opened Dabo's perspective on Portal a little bit. I truly love Dabo's philosophy of being a developmental team especially since we are not signing ten 5* players annually but there has to be exceptions.

True statement. Dabo is clear that our interior OL has not developed.

I’ll never understand Dabo’s need to disclose one kids reason and to not disclose the other.

Seriously. So he's in 'good standing', but he's going to be out for the majority of the season and it isn't legal or academic related?
I'm guessing it's something health related with his testicles. No other reason why he would not disclose something yet rule out essentially everything else that would keep him out.

Why even try to ascertain the reason for this situation?

Why do you need to know?
It’s none of your business.
It’s none of our business.
Dabo has absolutely no obligation to satisfy the curiosity of nosy fans.

It doesn't take a genius to surmise that Trotter is more than likely dealing with some sort of personal issue that is more than likely drug/alcohol/addiction related. He is also likely seeking treatment at a facility and does not want that information broadcasted to everyone who follows Clemson sports. As previously with Jay Guillermo, we will eventually find out further information if Trotter is comfortable with sharing his reasoning for leaving the team. College football is only 4-5 years of a kids life and not every fan of the team needs to know the details about every decision they make.

I’ll never understand Dabo’s need to disclose one kids reason and to not disclose the other.
It’s personal with each individual’s players family issues (medical or personal). Dabo could be sued for divulging personal family problems. You don’t need to know all personal issues of every player that is confidential info between player and coach. Dabo is probably among the top 10 most honorable (if not the #1) most honest coaches in NCAA. I recall a recent player leaving team because of personal emotional issues, went to counseling and returned as an outstanding player. No one has a right to know why he left and came back later, it’s personal.

We've unfortunately already dipped into the transfer portal looking for 2 OL, 1 from UVA and one from University of Louisiana and both went elsewhere (Michigan and Florida)...so respectfully we're throwing our chips in the table for guys and they're still not coming here. This is the thing that worries me most. I hope we can find, not just a body, but someone who can contribute meaningful snaps

Both of the guys you speak of were highly sought after guys. Either could've gone just about anywhere in the country. One followed his coach and one just decided to head north for whatever reason. My point is these two particular guys were the cream of the crop so they're not going to just walk onto campus bc Clemson offered.
I wonder if they have reached out to the Greene kid from Washington State. He fits what coach said he was looking for and he has played center. Not sure if he'd come acroos the country though.
