The Shooting Star Video

Sep 19, 2022, 12:50 AM

The one that David posted yesterday.

I’ve watched it a thousand times and can’t find it. Anyone mind circling it or something?

TIA

In the comments, there was someone saying at around 48 seconds, and yeah, it's there. It the top left quadrant.

Finally saw it, thanks!

I think my phone’s YouTube app was buffering the video horribly for some reason. Was like it was filmed with a calculator.

I think it's much more likely a bug or something flying in front of the camera. Shooting stars aren't so rare, but it just doesn't look like one to me.

It occurs above the NW portion of the stadium. It's relatively hard to see because of the stadium lights, and the sky itself is not very dark to provide much of a contrast. It's very quick, so just keep looking at the video around the 48 second portion.

Another poster indicated it looked like a bug. BS! I've seen many shooting stars in my life (I'm 74). It's definitely a shooting star. Unfortunately, it doesn't "standout" because it's not a very dark sky and it competes with the stadium lights. Still, it's pretty neat.

Lasting less than a second. Moving slightly downward from left to right

At the 48 second mark of the video.

Sorry bout the bad arrow. Fat fingers , tiny iPhone , pic editing doesn’t do well for an old man.

Best viewed on a ‘puter…not a phone…also…

Watch it with someone who has younger eyes…I missed it the first time or two….11 year old spotted it immediately

It was definitely a shooting start…the trajectory is…

..a perfectly straight line with the same fade out at the end as the asteroid burns up in the atmosphere, with what appears to me to be of naturally perfect duration for such an occurrence.

I’ve never seen a bug fly in front of a camera like that.

If it was a bug in the camera, to be seen with the focal length of the camera focused most likely to “infinite distance”, the bug would have had to be pretty close to the camera and would have appeared to be much larger in the view relative to the vision of the shot covering Death Valley.

I am am believer in the afterlife. That image, at that moment, with that placement, with the events of the past week, is one of the most bizarre coincidences that I ever seen.

I do like the belief that “something” outside of the realm of astronomical natural events, altered that event for that moment as a message.

As I write about this, it is still amazing to me.
