Best Places to eat in Clemson/Greenville area

Oct 7, 2015, 1:57 PM

Will be traveling to Clemson with my family at the end of November. We will be getting there around time for supper. Where would be the best place to eat that is not a bar and not a chain resturant. Really want them to get the down home feel that Clemson offers.

Or their Sunday Brunch??? its good southern fusion. I could recommend PAWS diner, but is that worth driving from out of town to for dinner??

He said no bars... I was just trying to help

Yea sorry

my parents are strict non alcoholics. Won't even go to outback because they have a bar in there. I would love to get to a bar in Clemson but I respect my parents' wishes and believe that it is more about my parents and my wife having a great time than me since this is their first game.

If that is the case, you need to take them to PAWS

Blue Heron and Rick's both have a pretty active bar inside the restaurant

entrees. Rick Erwin's is your classic steakhouse. Part of the Rick Erwin Group which is a very high end grouping of Greenville based restaurants. Very good, but very expensive.

City Range in Greenville is good. They serve steaks , seafood, burgers as I recall. May be a chain but has a nice upscale feel. We did their Thanksgiving dinner one year and were very pleased

Greenville's Lazy Goat or American Grocery are both excellent choices.

The Smoking Pig in Pendleton. Best BBQ

Around. Also great smoked chicken and beef brisket and ribs. Can't go wrong with this place. Everything is fantastic.

Walt Deptula tells me to eat at the following:

1. Moes Southwest Grill- THE best Tex-Mex anywhere

2. Joes NY Pizza- a bit of a drive up to Seneca but oh "the sauce". And the garlic knots.

3. Twin Peaks- best bar food anywhere. Chicken fried steak the size of a plate plus 28 degree draft beer. What more could a man want?

Any or all of those three should be great.

Friday night eat at Circle M barbecue. 178 towards Anderson. Call ahead and ask to save an order of ribs and chicken. 430-830 Friday and Saturday. Barbecue best I've ever eaten.
