Sony or Pioneer or Sennheiser

You want the *best*: Sony MDR-Z1R

I am using a Sony MDR right now ... just not the ZR1, I have mid-lower range option that I use for teleconferencing I bought 10 years ago. I have hearing issues so getting a good pair was a must but I don't spend audiophile levels as very good enough, the return isn't there fore me.

Bose uses software to "adjust" often substandard components. It is ok for low/mid level "brand prestige" but often it is distorted. Voice-tone might be muddy. Beats are just marketing.

Oops did not see wireless/noise cancelling. That would be a WH series. Likely the MX3 or MX4

are you talking about these ones ?

Yes, those would be the model. You can always cheat by just looking at the first and last letter grouping with sony (ie the WH .... MX4). Just makes it easier and google understands

My Bose aren’t the best headphones that I own, but they are the best noise canceling ones

These are my best. There are more options if you can do wired, but these are the best wireless that I've owned.

I have the Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphones...

Oct 13, 2021, 4:44 PM

I bought them about three years ago, and they're fantastic. Although I now use earbuds more often than the headphones.

My earbuds are the Sony WF-1000XM4. The Bose are great too but I though the Sony had a little more compact design. For me, that was the only real noticeable difference.

A couple of years ago, my daughters gave me a set of JayBird Vista II earbuds. Frankly, I think they're pretty darn good too and they are considerably less expensive. The only issue I had with them is they require recharging much more frequently.

Sennheiser Momentum if you can afford them.

Oct 13, 2021, 5:00 PM

Anything Sennheiser is good quality and sound. They are not the most expensive but are definately not cheap either.

Are you talking about wireless headsets to be worn at the game? I tried listening with earbuds to the radio broadcast in the stadium at Charlotte this year, and it was next to impossible. Years ago I had a nice AM/FM Sony headset that worked great, but they're nowhere to be found these days.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

mostly just wireless - but the noise cancel may

Oct 13, 2021, 6:10 PM

be nice

Wear anywhere

I'm not up on all that stuff ---- just see Beats everywhere --- ( marketing)

For some reason I like the wire. It seems the sound os better, or at least it was maybe 8 years ago. They have probably come a long way.

The Beats are probably just over-hyped & over priced!!***

I am thinking about buying these. They are kind of expensive for me, but they aren't considered high end. Some of the headphones cost in the thousands.

I had a pair of Sundaras and sold them a while back, you will not be disappointed. best headphones under 500.

anyone that says Bose gets their nose punched in. they are overpriced garbage. I like to got to best buy and listen to the Bose just to laugh at how bad they are.

and the best noise-canceling on the market right now are the Apple AirPods max, they are expensive, sound decent. I would not buy them, but they have a really neat transparency mode.

I can't say anything about headphones, since I haven't owned a set for about 15 years now. But, I completely share your opinion on Bose when it comes to speakers. Of four supposedly "high end" speaker setups that I have heard repeatedly, or owned back in the day:

Dalquists with an Ohm Subwoofer

Magnaplanar with Infinity subwoofer

Bose 901 with equalizer

Ohm F (Original models, driven with a Phase Linear 400 / Phase Linear 4000 power amp / premamp setup

Of those four setups, the Boses literally SUCKED. They would get LOUD, and handle a lot of power, but the sound was completely inferior to any of those other setups. And, that was with, or without their BOSE "equalizer". Just a bunch of low end, some midrange, and NO crystal clear high end, like expensive speakers should be able to provide.

The clear winner was the Ohm F's. To this day, the most awesomeness I have ever experienced in a speaker. They required a lot of power to drive them, but WOW, if you had the necessary power.

I have my eyes on the Kef r3 right now. And ti should be a dead giveway when Bose has their own special sound room at a dealer, they do not want you comparing them to other models, fact.
