If ever in Columbia area.....

I haven't been to Shulers, but I've hit most other BBQ joints around the state. If you get a chance, get a Big T dinner (hash, rice pulled pork) from Big Ts in southeast Columbia. THE BEST pulled pork sandwich goes to Southern Belly smack dab in the middle of cootville just beside the Fairgrounds. Seriously, you have got to try their gourmet pulled pork, #### good! Then there ribs, I like Hudsons in Lexington.

I live in Florence so I go to Schuler's pretty often. I think their barbecue chicken is the best I've ever had and their fried corn on the cob is amazing but their barbecue itself is pretty meh. If you want the best barbecue you'll ever eat go to Fatbacks in Cowerd, SC. It used to be called Country Cousins back in the day and the same guy who owned and cooked the barbecue there owns and cooks it at Fatbacks and has been cooking barbecue for over 40 years.

I agree. The pulled pork isn't all that, but the bbq chicken, ribs, and the corn...wow...
I've tried cooking that corn at home, can't do it. Yet.

I wish I didn't live almost 3 hrs away, I love trying different BBQ joints. Best I've had in a long time was a pulled pork sammich at flat rock wood room in flat rock nc. They do competition BBQ and have won several contests. Haven't tried the ribs yet. We prob gonna ride up there again in a few weeks, it takes about 45 min or so to get there. It's worth the ride cause you get to ride through the mountains.

I'll trade homes with you. LOL
I'm stuck down here near the beach but my happy place is the mountains. I ride up there pretty often. I have been known to ride up just for the day to trout fish. LOL
Next time I'm up there, I may make a stop in Flat Rock.

My favorite in SC is JB's Smokestack on Johns Island. All of it is great. Pulled pork, ribs, sausage, you name it. But the best day to go is Thursdays when they have fried pork chops on the menu. I try to lay off the fried stuff but these pork chops are smack-yo-mama good. It's a tiny hole in the wall but if you're in Charleston it's worth driving 15 minutes out of the way for.
My second favorite for the sheer size and options is Shealy's.
