Part of me wishes we hadn't taken the foot off the gas

But I think Dabo has been perfectly content to win by doing just enough to get the job done. Dropped passes still plague us and execution hasn't been perfect, but we've not unleashed the beast quite yet. I'm guessing Oct. 1 is when we'll see the kracken come out.

If the dayum refs hadn't helped their cause in the 3rd qtr, GT would not have come close to scoring. And if we had kept our foot on the gas, that game could have been 50-0 without really breaking a sweat. I'm not really concerned about the offense. The defense is clearly elite. Louisville thinks they're going to stroll into town and teach a few things, but I don't think so. I'm still of the mind the big test will be at FSU.

Dabo has been coaching like the poker player who flopped quad aces. You don't go all in too soon so you don't drive everyone out of the hand. You slow-play it to build as much of a pot as you can, hoping to catch somebody thinking they have the nuts. When the time is right, you go all in and clean their clocks.

I'm sure we'll have a more aggressive game plan for Louisville, but will still be a matter of holding some back if we can. This is not a sprint as everyone knows. Dabo is pacing this team for a long season. Keep winning and it all comes out in the wash.

Beside having a load of bandwagon fans on board who have...

no clue what football is about we have some spoiled rotten old timers who are dead-set on making it clear that they expect more than what we're getting. That same bunch wanted Mike Leach instead of Dabo, our S&C coaches fired and think we ought to beg the SEC to take Clemson.

If the whiners will watch DW's head you'll see him look defenders over to the wrong WR. We'd see beauty all over the field if we'd look past the scoreboard when the clock is running.

I totally agree with everything you said. I voiced my displeasure with the AD when I heard the name Mike Leach mentioned for the Clemson job. Leach is a bad guy and the way he treats players is really bad. My son has a friend who played for him and he told us he can really be out of line with the players on more than one occasion. The fans you are talking about do not have a clue about football.

But don't you think he'd have RUTS on Tech?

I think he'd have RUTS on 'em.

You are way too logical to be on this board

Agree. IMO, the OL and the run game are the biggest concern.

I have not seen the line be dominant in this regard so far. Especially guard play. Plus we really don't have anyone outfront speaking for this group in pre/post game interviews like last year. Not sure what to make of that, but it's a different vib from that group compared to last season.

Dabo is more conservative with the lead than some would like. I'm okay with it. But when it comes down to running the clock out and salting away games, the o-line has to have the ability to produce some first downs with Gallman or whomever. It can't be on Watson and/or the receiving corp all the time.

The UL game will tell us a lot about this team. At worst, Clemson is a 10-2 team with a chance at a new year's six bowl game. At best, the Tigers are right where they were last season.

It will be a big game next Saturday. The media will hype UL because they are playing well and the hot, new, trendy piece of eye candy. Dabo has garnered us a lot or talent over the years and he has a burning desire to be the best.

I have full trust and confidence in his ability to draw the most out of his staff and this years team.
