Bench Deshaun

Sep 12, 2016, 9:10 PM

for a series or two, or a quarter. It will help him get his head on straight. Seriously. A coach with balls will sometimes bench a star player to help "ground" him. It happens all the time, and can be a wonderful panacea for the big head.

One time I demoted two star players/co-captains in a game, and when they came back out they were so humbled and incensed that they were like the destroying angel and played the game of their lives.

I was also a star and one time had to be benched. I didn't stay there long, but the message got through pretty fast in a way that it couldn't otherwise.

Just sayin'.

And somebody's probably already said this, but if Deshaun isn't superman, and he isn't, then he needs to stop ripping his shirt open when he does something big.

Let's get back to lunch pail outwork 'em mentality, no more interviews, no more clippings, low key, under the radar football and claim this season back. One game at a time, of course.

why stop with just benching him?leave him home just like with cain.oh wait.it's a home game,so that won't work.maybe just fire him outright.that should get his attention.

Make sure you bench the players responsible for the 8 drops

Sep 12, 2016, 9:45 PM

Also...Bench Ray Ray for dropping the ball before crossing the goal line...

I'm no coot but I think the suggestion has merit. Why not let DW sit out a quarter? It is not humbling he needs so much as to get his competitive spirit back. Let him watch a portion of a game just aching to be out there himself. Let's face it, it couldn't hurt us and would hurt him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Did you look at the box score of the Troy game?

Sep 12, 2016, 9:56 PM

They played a ton of players that didn't see any action in the Auburn game. DW had 27 completions to ELEVEN different receivers. Sure, he could have throw everything to Mike Williams, but the team doesn't develop.

This is crazy to even think of benching DW. Clemson has not lost a regular season football game in 2 years and you want to bench the guy that is the key figure in that?

In Baseball, when a pitcher gets in trouble you don't yank him, you allow him to work himself out of it.

The 4th quarter was a solid performance with 17 points.

Wow

Thank you for that much needed laugh.

Deshaun is the leader of that team. He lead that team to the National Championship game last year, almost single handedly won that final game too.

^^^^this

I really hope some of the people on here saying to bench Watson are joking.

He just stated today what the issue has been and I believe him. He deserves to be treated better than what some of these people are posting. Give him support. Quit trying to dog the guy. He's playing his heart out. People seem to forget he beat usuc on one leg.

It's usually easy to pick up on the sarcasm on this board, but the last couple of weeks it's been harder to find the comedians in the herd of idiots.

This board has been overrun since the Auburn game . You got the " everything's fine except we aren't very good at football " crowd . You hear from the " Watson isn't the same " goons , then there are the ever-present " Dabo has lost the team " kooks who honestly I believe are about 94% coots in cahoots...working the stupid angle for bites .
I swear , I just try to knit more in-between games when it's like this ...less stressful and occasionally I bang out a wicker afghan.

Yea I feel like I can usually pic up on the sarcasm but there have been some really bad posts lately. I'm hoping they are coot fans disguised in tiger stripes bc otherwise that's embarrassing for Tiger fans.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed. I'm glad the people here don't coach the Tigers....

Sep 12, 2016, 10:37 PM [ in reply to Re: Thank you for that much needed laugh. ]

If Dabo made a decision to bench a player like Deshaun, he might as well quit because the whole team would quit on him. Thoughts like that are best left in the stupid mind that thought them up.

With him only completing %52 of his passes and leading the conference in interceptions, you might have a point.
