Serious question and no one can dispute what Dabo has done

with the program to date, but is he losing his edge?
Tons of money and a lot of success have a way of making some lose that edge that he always seemed to have. Maybe he is down a little right now too because the product his team is putting on the field is not the standard he has set. You can definitely see a different attitude and demeanor in his press conferences.
I know this is a mangey post but I like y'alls opinions and perspectives better.

Guy we have is supposed to be all world

He looked all-world last year. That's what's so confusing about this last game, especially. There are probably a number of factors affecting everybody's play so far, but it doesn't seem like that much has changed in terms of coaches and players from the games DJ played last year.

strength this year, and all the skill people were 'special'. I don't at all mind Dabo's overuse of the word "special", but that kind of talk raises expectations to that level. The oline last year was full of special athletes in need of a year's experience. WRs are special. QBs are special. One then expects a team full of special folks to not be bottled up by a team that lost to NIU. Nothing wrong with Dabo speaking that way, but nothing wrong with the expectations that follow.

Losing his edge?

I'd not go that far at all. Seems that the offense hasn't progressed with the rest of the college football over the past 3-4 years. Look at what Sark did to that Alabama offense last year. Complete offensive innovation. They lose their best WR in Waddle and then D Smith goes on to win the Heisman. Sark put him all over the field and put him in positions to be able to catch the ball any way possible.
What is Clemson doing on offense? The same old stuff they've been doing 5 years ago. That's really the only thing that annoys me with the offense. It's the same stuff. I'm pretty sure Dabo knows that they need some new ideas in their offensive scheme. Or at least I hope so since I can see it as a football novice.
As for the pressers - they should get rid of Zoom after this season. All the in person questions are from the Clemson beat reporters and are quite specific in their asks. When they move to Zoom, its WSJ and NYT reporters that have no idea what goes on there day to day like the beat reporters do. They just ask generic college national football questions looking for quotes.

bad play by Ross (understandable in his first game back, but that's what it was) and a critical third down drop by Galloway. GT would be being viewed differently if not for a fumble by Ooey, another third down drop by Galloway, and the final fumble in the endzone. Sure, those things did happen, no excuses, and they wouldn't make up for the offensive deficiencies, but we would be talking about this in terms of growing pains, not disaster. And we might well be 3-0, ranked #3.
But the well known deficiencies do exist, and what bothers me more is the continued coach speak of "Well, they took X away from us." Every team takes something away from every other team. The follow up question to that excuse is, "So, they put 8 guys on pass defense, and we couldn't run up and down the field against a team that lost to NIU?" That, to me, is on the offensive coaching staff, the fact that we have a team that lacks the confidence to run NIU - excuse me, GT - out of the stadium.
If you look at the O and D coaching staffs, you see two different profiles. The O is coached by ex players, from OC to WR to RB to Oline. That is great in terms of continuity and culture, but to hire from such a shallow pool obviously raises the issue of coaching ability; it doesn't grow on trees.
So, maybe Dabo went all in on ex players. I don't know. Nothing to me says that Dabo deserves anything other than a lifetime contract, because this is about a lot more that W/L. But the next year or so will show how that shakes out, for sure.

dude's about as competitive as he is stubbornly loyal. the issue here is our coaching staff is having to show their worth and they've fallen flat on their face (obviously offensive staff here). TE is in over his head.
the only thing less likely than us scoring 50 points Saturday is Dabo "giving up". i may be proven wrong, but I doubt it.
Dabo's earned a lot of haters out there over his tenure and rise to the top. The country is piling on, a lot of us fans (myself included) are piling on b/c a) we're spoiled and b) we have the highest paid coaching staff and have gotten out coached a lot lately (embarrassingly at times, even in wins).
unfortunately we got what we got this year. i have no issues losing a few games if it gets us a couple of fresh faces on offense. I doubt it will happen - either we'll win out, or Dabo won't make a change until EOY next year if it's more of the same. maybe TE gets a head coaching gig (highly doubt it).
maybe i'm too cynical but I've been a clemson fan too long. this is what we do (outside of the past 5 years).
