So we lost a WR that never plays and a FCS at best QB?

Dec 3, 2021, 4:06 PM

The sky isn't falling... just opens the door for better production. Go Tigers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

multi-year investments and development is why it hurts

Dec 3, 2021, 4:08 PM

more than just past production

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thats a 4star FCS QB ... remember?***

Feaster was far better than TP in relation to their positions and production and talent. TP was always a project and got a 4 star rating based off combine type
measurables at the camp circuit. He wasn’t even as good as Zerrick Cooper.

Which is exactly why Dabo loves to get playing time to walk-ons.

Which is kinda like marrying a less attractive girl. In 20 years she'll be just as pretty as the beauty queen, but you won't have to worry about her feeling entitled to someone better than you for the next 20 years.

Did someone say Hunter Renfrow????

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I can understand the QB leaving because of the........

Dec 3, 2021, 4:09 PM

5-star QB coming in next month. I just feel sorry for the school that recruits Ladson only to have him sit on the bench with injuries like he did with us.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why even have them on the roster?

Dec 3, 2021, 4:09 PM

that is a failure of recruiting

Re: Why even have them on the roster?

Hindsight is 20-20. #7 is not D1 caliber and Ladson turned out to be injury prone, how do you see that in advance, armchair hero?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Why even have them on the roster?

Dec 3, 2021, 4:42 PM

U nailed it. There have always been 5*s that didn't pan out. And some 2-3*s that continued to develop and had huge careers. Bottom line, recruiting is hard and you're not always going to hit paydirt. But every team needs depth and everyone can't start, SO somebody has to sit and wait. Players have always wanted to jump ship, but couldn't. Until now. So this is the way it's going to be going forward. The coaches who are the best at figuring this out will continue to have success. I'm glad we have Dabo and company.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Because recruiting is such an exact science

Dec 3, 2021, 4:19 PM [ in reply to Why even have them on the roster? ]

right? TP was a project from a primarily running offense in high school. With Klubnick coming in his chances of playing are slim. Ladson was a 5 star, highly recruited. He couldn't stay healthy and he did not develop as expected. He's looking at Ngata, the Collins pair, and Williams along with a highly rated freshman on the outside. He'd have to fight for PT here, so why not head back home to Florida somewhere and play for sure? This is what the portal affords. Good luck to both, we'll replace them

You aren’t allowed to suggest things like that on the TNets.***

If we don’t get better coaches at those positions it will not matter. BS, TG and RC should be fired.

What a freaking dope. We set the school record for passing yards per game last year but one down year and we need to fire the whole staff. Go pull for an SEC team. You seem to like toxic cultures.

Re: So we lost a WR that never plays and a FCS at best QB?

I see you know nothing about player development. Great players have covered up that issue for the last few years. Moron.

Re: So we lost a WR that never plays and a FCS at best QB?

Great players make great teams, good players make good teams, bad players make bad teams. Dabo took over this program when it was struggling. He built this team into what it his. All you do is watch the games. Don’t call people a moron when you are just as ignorant to coaching college football.

Because we’ve been the only program with great players while we’ve been winning so much, right?

Why don't you call for Dabo to be fired too? He hired each of those coaches. I think I'll go with the guy who built this program to what it is now over your advice.

Assuming the coaches actually use those ships...

for better players as opposed to handing out ducats to walk-ons and coaches kids.

Hate to end up with another Hunter Renfow on the team

Re: Assuming the coaches actually use those ships...

Dec 3, 2021, 5:12 PM

81, I understand where you're coming from but as soon as the portal opened free transfer, you can no longer continue to hand out schollys to everyone. Sadly, it's unfortunate.

Exactly why I've been saying since this started, with the rare exceptions of a kj Henry, and offensive lineman, perhaps some dlineman, redshirt is a thing of the past for a school like Clemson. You're not going to have a good player sit for 3 years to maybe start your senior year.

One of 2 things happen now. 1 they'll transfer, 2, if they're good like ship, you'll get 3 years. Maybe rarely 4 years. It just ain't like it was 5 yrs ago.

Dabo's development policy must be amended.

Renfrow got his scholarship before he played a single down, and he was immediately impactful.

None of the walk-one have shown anything except maybe Will Taylor and those are just flashes but no real production

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Assuming the coaches actually use those ships...

Dec 3, 2021, 9:12 PM

Pretty sure that isnt accurate Renfro got his scholly after his 2nd year. As far as the WR transfer today I am confused. He was listed 1st team but keep getting hurt. Is the next team a flag or non-contact team? This has gotten insane quickly.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Assuming the coaches actually use those ships...

Dec 3, 2021, 9:49 PM

I think Hunter RS then got a scholly (before playing the next year). He was a RS freshman in 2015 when he torched Bama.

Will Taylor is on scholarship.
I think you meant Will Brown.
