Whenever Dems take power, gun manufacturers with the help of the NRA help push fears, especially in right-wing media circles, of a curb on 2nd Amendment rights. This emotional response helps drive up demand.
Gun manufacturers actually prefer having Dems in power for this reason. They make more money.

Disagree.
It started with the thug G Floyd being killed due to a drug induced (probably overdose) resisting arrest incident. This was followed by a summer of riots complete with killings, burning of property, insurgency, threats and follow-through on threats of violence. Violence condoned by liberal politicians.
No justice, no peace. Remember all that? Looting, smash and grab. Calls for cops to be killed. Cops ambushed and killed. Record numbers of cops killed. Random attacks on Asians and Whites. Remember that?
Uh, yeah, there are a few other reasons besides 2A!

This is true. Also, before Biden was elected gun sales were at record highs.
This is because Democrats, in Democrat controlled cities were rioting every night for months.

So they buy them while they think they still can. Where if they never had that thought they may be outlawed, they would have never bought the gun in the first place. Hence, the threat of making guns, and/or certain guns illegal, pushes sales beyond a normal market for them.
My guess.
I know my own father had no need, nor desire to own an AR-15. He collects guns. But when Clinton was elected, he bought one, and several large magazines, not because he really wanted it, but as a collector he wanted one in case they were outlawed. Every other gun he ever bought was a pistol or shotgun or rifle. He also bought a stock of the large magazines for several of his pistols just before they were outlawed. And honestly at this point, if they outlawed AR-15's, there would be no huge collectors market because everyone who collects has one, because they may become illegal.
Collecting and capitalism is what's driving gun sales. Democrats are a gun shop's favorite politician.
