Man can this kid HIT. Ball carrier seems to always go backwards when he hits 'em. Gets to the ball like a Shark with blood in the water

I wonder if he can kick off....at 240 he should be able to kick out of the end zone! It would be nice to have a kicker that can tackle too!

I used to teach at Northgate & have been told:

That he is also an excellent punter. I know we've been concerned through the summer how that was going to get resolved and it seems things worked out well with the freshmen & walk-on. Glad to see there is another multi-talented kid coming in to Tiger Nation.

What I was going to ask

It would be great if we could have a kicker/LB. One less hole in the return coverage game.

What am I missing here? “I tried playing again… I finally just committed to just football to watch out for my body and keep myself healthy,” he said. He's giving up soccer to play football, because he was more likely to be injured playing soccer?

It wears on you. I tried to do both in high school myself and it's tough. Physically I was a lot like Skalski - not as talented - but I was 6'1", 230-ish and a middle backer in high school myself...which is indeed Very Large for a soccer player. (One thing that turned my head around back when we were recruiting Kalon Davis was that the guy was playing central midfielder...on a soccer team, at 300+ pounds. Never seen that before, ever!) Both are kind of full-time commitments; soccer in particular requires a lot of travel and it's hard to do justice to both.

People also don't realize how physical a game soccer is...and how much of it is how much you're willing to suffer during a game. Guys run an average of seven miles during a soccer game, a good bit of it at a full-out sprint...basically a quarter-marathon, with intervals mixed in. You're going to leave hurting...especially if you're a big guy. I had near-constant shin splints just because running that much at 230+ puts an absolute pounding on your legs. Which is only going to get worse as you put on more weight for football...soccer, you wanna go the other way and trim to under 200 if your legs are going to hold up.

Kalon was a hell of a soccer player. Watched him play here in Chester.

not playing soccer all weekend after a friday night football

game allowed his body time to recoup for the following week thus focusing on football.

you can play soccer all weekend, but football for 3 hours is a mostly once a week affair.
