Baylor releases a statement.

Jul 23, 2021, 11:02 PM

https://sicem365.com/s/10203/baylor-president-livingstone-ad-rhoades-release-statement-regarding-big-12?fbclid=IwAR3hjjh9M22jg6-iMS-K7tMyjMOo86UyP3vX_E0ptS3ZFA3Go02qpzU6L9o

Note this statement:

Rest assured, we, along with the Board of Regents, members of the Baylor delegation in the Texas Legislature and other Baylor leaders, are actively engaged in conversations with our Big 12 colleagues and others to ensure our University is in the strongest position possible now and into the future.

(The two key words are "and others.")

Other members of the b12? The b12 is Texas and Oklahoma. I'm a little confused. How can they stop it?

"And others" means, "PAC 12, B1G, ACC and anybody else who will listen."

Thanks. I'd be ok with adding Baylor and Oklahoma State along with ND and West Va.

No to West Virginia. Cincinnati would be a better add. So would Memphis. Better TV markets and expand the conference footprint.

Morgantown is basically West Pittsburgh.

Adding Baylor and Ok State in the ACC after what the SEC has pulled off would be quite an embarrassing look for the conference. It definitely shows how unprepared and reactionary the folks in the ACC office were. In no way would adding Baylor and OkState change the power move by the SEC and would only further give a look as a 2nd tier conference

Agree. ACC got caught with their pants down- pretty standard really.

You sir are clueless. ACC is not a strong football conference primarily because of geography and the makeup of the member schools. The ACC had no moves to make other than adding schools which would bring little value to the conference. The ACC had no knowledge or control over where Texas and Okie wanted to land.

Now there are two options

1) sit still and wait for the top schools to be picked off by the BIG and SEC

2) Go big. Adding a couple of G5 schools does not move the needle unless you can add them + ND. So adding ND or taking 5 Big 12 schools and going to a pod system would be the only option

No, that’s not the ONLY option. And adding Big12 leftovers is stupid. 90% of the B12 TV money came from Texas and Oklahoma being in the conference.

The ACC will NOT make moves that lower revenue per school.
