Basketball - Keep the pressure on

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such passion and disgust from the fan base regarding Clemson basketball as I’ve seen since the NIT humiliation. It’s been a long and frustrating 13 season under Brownell (other than his first year with Purnell’s players & the 2018 season).

This is good. We are sick of it as we should be. As basketball season fades away, I hope our passion for change won’t fade with it. I hope you big donors are letting your feelings known loudly and clearly. For me, I plan on addressing my frustration at the Spring/Summer IPTAY meetings – tastefully and respectfully of course.

I always want Clemson to win, so I’ll be pulling hard for the basketball team next season, but after 13 years of this, I am under no illusion the season will go as Brownell suggests (re special season). We’ve been here before. I can hear the excuses already, not to mention the lectures on how we should be more appreciative of the consistency he’s built or something like that. Brownell inherited a program that went to three straight NCAA tournaments, an NIT title game before that and a spot in the ACC Championship game. Brownell won his first year with Purnell’s players and then tanked the program with horrible recruiting. Yes, there has been some progress in recent years, but the idea of giving him year after year to get the program back in the same shape it was when he took over is laughable and insulting.

Let’s keep the pressure on. Let’s demand that best is the standard in every sport.

Twitter Tuesday - make sure to use #firebrad and #firebradbrownell. Retweet a few others that have used it too.

Better yet, make Fire Brad signs and take them to the games next season.

But I'm afraid that it is falling on deaf ears.

Whiny, entitled crybaby snowflake.

Maybe you will grow up some during the coming year.

Seriously, is this how you present an argument? I realize you are extremely old and lacking the vocabulary of most of your peers, but this is rather sad. Also, I find it interesting that you readily admit in a previous post that “I don’t care for basketball”. Let me make this very clear to you - I do care for basketball. I go to multiple games each year and was in Greensboro for the ACC tournament two weeks ago. I have been a Clemson basketball fan and supporter since I was a child.

If you disagree with me, and this isn’t some dementia-oriented outburst, you are welcomed to attempt to change my mind with facts and data. I’m guessing that you’re just not able to do that anymore (if ever) which is partially the reason for your vivid frustrations.

Further, your attempts to bully people who do not agree with you into not posting anymore is a direct reflection of the way you view yourself and the way people in your community, family and church view you.

Enjoy your evening and remember to be kind to your caretakers, after all they probably detest being around you.

Not sure it could hurt recruiting either. Our stellar top 100 recruiting classes have been awesome.

The decent recruits he does land leave the program early with such regularity that it hardly matters here. Also, kids see the same results he puts out that Clemson fans do. They're not ignorant to his shortcomings since he's been here - not coaching players into the NBA, not getting into the NCAA tournament and offering that extra exposure, consistent post-season tournament failures with one single exception five years ago when future recruits were 12 and under.

It’s obvious to everyone (except maybe Neff) that a change needs to be made.

We were saying the same thing about Streeter and wondering how Dabo thought everything was good. All the while, Dabo was working a deal.

I’m guessing it’s obvious to Neff as well. It very possibe he has reached out to other candidates and hasn’t gotten any interest.

I sent a letter to Brownell and an e-mail to Neff. I don't expect a reply from either one. I seriously doubt that either Neff or Brownell will attend the spring P&G meetings. Brownell didn't last year. That tells me he can't/won't defend his program.
