First of all, thanks to everybody that has checked in on me. Finally feeling a little like myself today, and I am hoping I can be at camp this week.
Now to baseball....Chris Okey, Eli White, Weston Wilson, Alex Bostic and Pat Krall were the underclassmen we thought would get a shot. Under the new rules (especially early) teams can call a draft prospect ten minutes before the pick and ask if they are in or not. So when those guys had their names called (White, Okey, Wilson and Bostic) you had to know right away they were not coming back.
Krall is a different matter. I've heard he had a dollar figure in mind, but that the dollar figure doesn't match where he was drafted. However, I've heard it looks like the Cards might be closing to matching it. Someone has told me that head coach Monte Lee is working like crazy to keep Krall around another year (he is vital to next season, let's be honest) but this situation is still fluid. I will let you know what I hear.
Monte has added a transfer from PC who has a great swing and will be a nice plug-in guy next season who can play outfield or second base.
Another one that might hurt is catcher Tyler Lancaster out of SMC. He might also be taking the money - I've heard he would need a lot of summer classes in order to be accepted at Clemson, but the coaches are still hopeful it can get done.
