'Baseballfan', is Clemson apparently doing the same crazy

cutout for the artificial turf around home plate on the baseball field? Not sure why this is. The artificial turf continued to the back of the fence is more attractive as it is done at SCAR's stadium.

It's going to look substantially similar....

to the way it looked before the renovation.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

I don't know what's "crazy" about it...

Jul 29, 2013, 5:35 PM

it's an artificial turf collar around home plate and into the on-deck circles. It will also continue in front of the dugouts and all the way to the outfield fence. The bullpens will also be largely artificial turf. With all the rain we've had, the artificial turf looks better and better. The "back field" as the coaches call it is much more useful than the stadium field, even if it weren't under renovation. The new field will drain much better, which will be a huge help. The gravel is going in and then the irrigation system and then the soil and then the grass. A friend told me that they're looking at the end of September to plant the grass, and at that rate there's no point in planting Bermuda, especially if it just has to be dug up next year to add the seats behind home plate. No one seems too upset with the artificial turf sidelines in Death Valley, I don't know why Doug Kingsmore is such an issue.

"CRAZY" is defined as doing something irrational w/o reason

Like moving homeplate up to try and make your hitters look better instead of getting them in the weight room, finding power hitting players or coaching them up. I have no problem with fixing the drainage system or the bullpens, but "sissifying" the field is embarrassing. Wild Bill Wilhelm is probably rolling 'round & 'round in his grave.

What power hitters? At the end of the regular season 60 some players had 10 home runs in Division 1. Of those players, only 15 played in a BCS conference. There aren't power hitters anymore.

He won't listen to reason...

or facts. He thinks he knows it all when it comes to coaching every sport at the Division 1 level, which he's never done.

Oh sure there are. All you have to do is snap your fingers and they will come. At least in Coachmac's t-ball league.

Great, more crap from you...

why don't you just go away? Clemson moved the outfield fence in 8 feet when Bill Wilhelm was still alive, I doubt he objected very much. You can't "coach" anything.

Diarrhea of the mouth is all you're good for IMO

Self-proclaimed expert looking back at you in the mirror...what you really need is to have some buzzard knock you off your self-rightous pedestal. All mouth & no brains is a dangerous combination for one who can't shut up without backup.
