Baseball

Mar 5, 2014, 2:26 PM

Ok guys the negativity is pretty sad on here.

For one, I think anyone that follows Clemson baseball knows that we tend to play much better in April/May/June than we do in Feb/early March. If you want to jump ship, go ahead thats your call but I think this team is worth following.

Gossett, Crownover, Long/Erwin/Schmitt is a heck of a weekend rotation. They will win a lot of games down the stretch. Our defense will improve and will probably finish in the top 5 of the ACC. You have to realize a huge problem has been errors, and I dont think anyone expects that to be a major problem all year considering we have 2 seniors on the right side of the infield and Krieger at short. Bullpen has been a problem, but I think once everyone gets comfortable in their roles that will improve. Sometimes in baseball it takes time for a guy who is used to starting like Erwin, Schmitt, and Pohle to adjust to a relief role. They all have good stuff, and there is no reason to think they wont find a spot that they all can be productive in. Kennedy comes back in April and brings a lot of power to the lineup as well.

I realize that is is important to win early games in order to host a regional, which is sooooo critical. But It's also important to be patient in baseball. It's about playing good at the right time. Jumping ship and calling for heads is a little silly 11 games into a roughly 60 game season. There is no Spring training in college baseball so unfortunately, its possible for good teams to struggle early on.

OK guys sorry to be positive. Yall can all go back to crying and complaining about how tense Jack is, and how we have too many Northerners, and how our pitching coach is unacceptable, and how we leave pitchers in too long and then too short, and how we are too aggressive running bases, and how huddling before games is a distraction, and how we have Omaha on our hats instead of National Championship, and how our Mizuno cleats slow us down, and how Easton bats are terrible, and everything else that non baseball people like to "expertly" analyze. But to everyone who isn't somewhat pathetic in their mourning, and is looking forward to watching this teams improvement, Ill see you at the Doug this weekend.

heads to early.

Most, like myself, have said for years that our program is stagnant and could use some new leadership to breathe new life into it.

I'm not a jack fan and never really have been. However, I can tell you that while I was a student, I rarely missed a home baseball game and that I support our players 110%.
