the portal to get players. He seems to manage it well and it hasn’t hurt their culture too much.

Personally I don't have any issues with Saban, and I believe that he is a good college FB coach that does the necessary things that he needs to do as legally as possible to win, and he's rarely wrong with the assistant coaches that he hires, and he has a fairly big coaching turn over, and they seem to be one of the top teams every year!!!!

Didn’t they have a player arrested with an illegal gun in a car a few years ago? I don’t think that guy missed more than one game.

Bama does it the right way. They use the portal to fill in gaps caused by players leaving…… It’s a great strategy to backfill your roster. Roster management for a new environment.. However they utilize it in a very wise way and only take a handful of transfers each year while relying on the high school ranks as their primary source (by far) for talent. The way it should be(relying on HA kids). Overreliance on the portal is unhealthy.
