Back in my playing days

Oct 24, 2021, 1:05 PM

we’d have already held a players only meeting to air everything out and hold each other accountable for their actions or lack in their of, and to agree that moving forward, we would all take pride in our play and make sure that we play to the best of our abilities and as a unit.

I know that leaders like Christian Wilkins are rare and I don’t expect us to have his type of leadership on every team. He was truly special and one of a kind. But every team does normally have certain players that the rest of the team looks up to for advice and looks to follow. I’m not exactly sure who it is on this year’s team (Skalski would be a guess) and it’s been a long time since we (Clemson family) have been in this kind of situation. Whoever the team leaders are, I think it would be extremely beneficial for them to take the bull by the horns and try to stick together and finish the season strongly.

This season is starting to remind me of Dabo’s interim season. Not necessarily wins and losses but more so the mental makeup of the team and the culture of the program and all of the outside noise regarding the team. Back then, I remember that Dabo drilled and preached that in order to change the narrative, they had to start individually in the locker room. First they had to change within the team before they could change the narrative from the outside. That’s where “all in” came from. Hopefully they can turn things around in a similar fashion like they did back then. Either way, I’ll be supporting my Tigers through thick and then.

TLDR
Team leaders need to step up and get the players on the same page. Hold each other accountable, play together with maximum effort, and finish the season strong.

Go Tigers ??

Completely agree. Well-written. The problem, as I see it,

is virtually no leadership within our offense...a role normally relegated/assumed to the Quarterback.

Imagine Peyton Manning putting up with the bullsh*t attitudes, lack of focus, etc. we've witnessed. Either there has been no effort in that role or the team members are not responding. I keep repeating: a lack of discipline for whatever reason. When that happens, it's time for someone else to step to the plate...a decision IMO squarely on the shoulders of the staff.

Reminds me of Tommy Bowden reign.

Agreed. Danny would have them out there in full pads on Sunday afternoon and yelling at them about how they were "Sixth-Page News".
