B T Potter & the PK position

Dec 9, 2021, 10:27 AM

NFL material? Except for that one game, the kid's been money from pretty much any distance.

Who do we have that's next up?

NFL. He has the requisite leg strength, for sure. Accuracy will be his make or break. NFL teams seem to move on from kickers in a heartbeat these days. Not much grace around if you have a bad day and cost your team a win.

Those conversations really are like the old joke: You only had ONE JOB.....

Yep, it's an unforgiving position, for sure. The rest of the offense gets 4 tries for a 1st down and multiple shots per drive for a TD. The kicker? He gets one shot to make the FG per drive. No room for error. Gotta be dependable. So far - except for the FSU game, from which he bounced back nicely - he's been totally reliable.

According to the four letter network, his career FG stats are 51 of 68 (75%), i don't think that will fly in the NFL, he will have to work on his accurracy.

I don't think he has ruled out coming back for one last season. Has his Covid year I believe.

Next up appears to be Gunn from the current recruiting class, provided his knee recovers from surgery in time for camp. Looks like a solid kicker, and with a name like Gunn...

Perfect name for a kicker - Gunn!

But there is one guy in college ball named Dicker. Dicker the Kicker. Ha!
