Does anyone remember Funny's Hotdogs

Jul 18, 2012, 11:44 PM

Across from TTT in the early 80's? My grandpa and his friend owned that place and I remember playing Pacman, TRON and DigDug there as a kid. They served hotdogs and ice cream back in the day. I even remember the Fridge coming in for lunch/dinner when I was young. I was more of a clemson than a carolina fan back then. Anyways, just wondered if anyone remebers that place. I was in the basement across from TTT.

One question:

What in the world happened?

You are literally the first person I've ever heard say they went from being a Clemson fan to a Carolina fan.

Honest question...

Fair Question

Jul 19, 2012, 12:08 AM [ in reply to One question: ]

Fair question. I was about 8 years old at the time. what i learned later is that the business went under in 83 after the business partner got into coke and sunk the business and the reserves. My grandparents are from Columbia and after it failed our family returned and ended up doing ok for themselves in time, due to other business ventures. I hear that the 80's were full of stories like this. Anyways, I sold programs as a kid to make money at the Carolina games and became attached to the team. For the record, I went to COFC for college, but still follow the GameCocks.

Any time a coot comes on here claiming he was a Clemson fan who pulled a benedict arnold, it's not going to go well...

Well we know he wasn't born that way so it has to be a lifestyle change.

To actually answer your initial question-

Jul 19, 2012, 7:47 PM

Yes I remeber Funnys very well.. Loved it. Always went in there after shutting down TTT or Nicks, which was OFTEN. Always wondered why it closed- sorry your Grandpa's friend snorted it up.

My wife and I were married in 1982 and she worked at Funny's. They had great chili. She worked there until she started working at Study Hall.
