I had the pleasure of meeting him as a young Red Sox fan and he was genuine and gracious.

While a great player in his years with the Red Sox his MVP probably should have gone to Albert Belle that year. Vaughn got the edge because he was a great guy and well liked by the media and Albert Belle was well, Albert Belle.
