Putting in my 2-week notice tomorrow to go out on my own and try to do this thing from the ground up. I just closed my first lucrative deal that will give me bill money for the next 6 months. After that? No guarantees. That's up to me at this point.
Hopefully I look back on this post in 2 or 3 years and laugh, because I'm about to be kinda poor for a little while in order to invest in this thing and grow it.
It's gonna be like the TentDweller days all over again, cept no drugs or booze this time. Just gumption and toxic positivity to trick my mind into doing all those things I've been too much of a puss to try up until this point.

Good luck! My advice is...remember to sleep.
When I went out on my own a friend (who had done the same about 10 years earlier) said "The best thing about setting up your own shingle is that you only have to work half days. And you even get to chose which 12 hours that will be."
He also said "the best way to end up with a million in this business is to start with two." But I try to forget that part.

Got any true, trusted friends from your soon-to-be ex-employer?
If so, then keep in contact with them.
At some point, you may be surprised in how willing they are to help you (especially if they become disgruntled themselves and are thinking about following your career path).
But be careful not to reveal your business plans to your trusted ex-colleague ... juar in case she/he is a Dwight Schrute type.
