After seeing some of the Inbreadneck comments about how

none of our guys could start for uga, I wanted to compare some data as to how recruiting rankings, pre-season polls and final rankings compared for both. I used the stats since Dabo started in 2009, I used the Rivals Rankings and I used the AP Polls
I fully admit that:
a) I already assumed I knew what the results would show. b) I assume that if we went back to previous administrations after Danny, the data would favor Georgia. c) I know the recruits in a year rarely affect the results of that year, but I had no way to accurately adjust for when those recruits made a difference. d) For the maffs, I used a ranking of 28 if I had to account for an NR (Not Ranked) e) The numbers are Recruiting Ranking/Pre-Season Ranking/Final Ranking
2009 UGA - 6/13/NR CU - 37/NR/24
2010 UGA - 15/23/NR CU - 19/NR/NR
2011 UGA - 5/19/19 CU - 8/NR/22
2012 UGA - 12/6/5 CU - 14/14/11
2013 UGA - 12/5/NR CU - 14/8/8
2014 UGA - 7/12/9 CU - 13/16/15
2015 UGA - 4/9/NR CU - 6/12/2
2016 UGA - 6/18/NR CU - 9/2/1
2017 UGA - 3/15/2 CU - 22/5/4
2018 UGA - 1/3/7 CU - 8/2/1
2019 UGA - 1/3/4 CU - 9/1/2
2020 UGA - 1/4/7 CU - 2/1/3
These are some facts this limited data supports
Georgia's average Recruiting Ranking was 6th and Clemson' was 13th. Georgia has out-recruited us.
Georgia's average Pre-Season Ranking was 10.83 and ours was 12.08. Georgia was perceived to be better than us.
Georgia's average Final Ranking was 16.08, ours was 10.08. Georgia was worse and we were better than perceived.
Because Georgia out recruited us, but we out-performed them and the respective yearly predictions, we must either out-develop or out-coach them. (I know, weak ACC, but if you go back and look at the number and results of the ranked teams we have both played, including bowls and playoffs, we compare favorably)
We have been unranked in the Pre-Season three (3) times in the last 12 years and Georgia none.
Georgia has been unranked in the Final Poll five (5) times and Clemson once.
Georgia has remained the same or improved from Pre to Post Season two (2) times in 12 years. Clemson has remained the same or improved from Pre to Post Season ten (10) times in 12 years. The other two were from 1st to 2nd and from 1st to 3rd
Oh, yeah, Clemson two (2) National Championships in this time frame, Georgia not so much. I know this doesn't affect the game this year and it's too long, but it clearly shows what we all have known. "Georgia, doing less with more for the last 40 years (and counting)"

Would be interesting to see the number of players drafted each respective year also.

I would expect that Georgia would have had more players drafted, especially in the 12 year period, but i didn't look. I think that further points to a under-utilization of their resources. Except for that guys with the bags. He's been kickin' it.

So I looked it up. Over that period Georgia had had 74 players drafted to Clemson's 69. They also signed 40 plus more players than Clemson in that span. Georgia definitely underachieves for the quality of players they have.

That seems like a lot of work and effort to arrive at your final conclusion, which is Clemson has more national titles and none of it will have any affect on this year's game.

You are right. Even our own coach says that last results have no bearing on the up coming year. That's why I'm ready for that 1st game when our players strap on that helmet and go to work.

It will be one of the better games of the season. I think its a close one that comes down to which team can run the ball. Trash talk aside, I like UGA's O-line and think the Dawgs will run - enough.
