state farm, but I am an idiot because I think they actually care abut customer loyalty..., having their rental car option has saved me time and $$ in the past.

Farm Bureau

Mar 29, 2014, 6:33 AM

been there since 93 and never think about shopping around

I too, was a member for years.

They continually crept premiums up. But, coming from a farming family, I kinda had a warm fuzzy with them. That was until I had a claim. An old, rotted tree top fell in a storm and, it the back of a Grand Cherokee that I owned. Nothing major. Just some minor dings and dents to the rear liftgate area. Adjuster looked at and called. Said that the gate and tail light assembly would have to be replaced.

Adjuster called back a few days later to tell me that to replace the gate would be cost prohibitive. Not a real big deal but, I thought that I had been very loyal to them, even though the premiums were a bit cost prohibitive. I contacted my agent to express my opinion. But, continued on with FB.

Fast forward to the following year. Rates went up, again. I shopped the rates and informed my agent that it had become cost prohibitive for me to continue. I now have insurance with Allstate and, am saving.

State Fizzy.

Mar 29, 2014, 6:34 AM

First of all, I am an insurance shopper. I recommend being an insurance shopper, as it will save you money.

We were with State Farm for years, then switched to Progressive for auto b/c it was so much cheaper. State Fizzy was then willing to bundle our home and auto and it came out cheaper, so we went back to State Farm.

It's a necessary evil/racket, so you have to play the game to do the best you can.

So bottom line, shop around.

Travelers

Mar 29, 2014, 7:54 AM

switched many years ago when they were one of the few that used credit ratings to assist in premium determination and gave discounts for having home/auto. I think most do that now, but they have been easy to deal with.

USAA. Cheap prices and great customer service. In my experience, they are also pretty much the best bank ever.
