thing is a be-atch. Arrived too late. They had to wait for a week with no home games.
Those old green seats were same age as the orange ones believe it or not. A stadium seat saleman told me once that any plastic or paint containing red dye fades much faster in the sun than everything else. That's why dark green and blue are used so much, they fight fading better. Orange seats were still very structurally sound, not damaged. Just had become more of an ugly faded-pink color.
Got to do with the spectral color wavelengths, UV protons, photo-oxidation, and other science sheyit. This thang here:

Bottom line - don't use red, orange colored plastic stuff outside. It fades much quicker.

they didn't want to replace ALL the seats, just the orange ones because the green ones still have many years left in them. A half green/ half purple combo would have been just a bit weird looking. If they were replacing all of them, they may have gone all-purple.
Imagine the orange seats being purple with the green ones remaining. Not a great look.
Note: The purple seats at softball have worked very well, but they are ALL purple.
