I hope not. He took us to another level with what was at the time an innovative offense. To often he abandoned the run when it was working, go back and watch 2013 vs Scar as a fine example.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

I’d take him back as an analyst in a heartbeat.

Say what you will about his play calling,

May 14, 2022, 4:41 PM

but Morris was good at developing QB talent, with a focus on footwork. I can think of at least one QB on our current roster that could benefit.

Dabo has no need, or no use for a coach that is constantly looking for his next job, as The Chad done while at Clemson. A coach has to have some kind of loyalty for a job he is doing, but Chad Morris could never do that even with Dabo, and Clemson administration was showing Chad their loyalty in every way they could.

Chad Morris is the type of man that has to be in charge of everything around him, and that means that a coordinator, or position coaching job wasn't what he was interested in doing no longer than it took for him to get a foot in the door, then he would use the reputation of that school to try and get a head coaching job at another school. Chad wants to go straight to the top without paying his proper dues!!!

I expect him to surface around the state of Texas was an OC or assistant HC.
Texas A&M working for Jimbo Fisher would not be a suprise, or Oklahoma with his old partner BV.
Outside of those two, there are plenty of opportunities for him in the area.
A longshot would be UCF with his old boss.

I expect we will hear the announcement by next month.

Like him or not, he had a good run as OC at Clemson, and we put a lot of points on the board with him.
He may have even helped us last year, when our offense was stalled.

I don't see a Head Coaching job for him in the near future.
Similar situation with his old Auburn partner Steele in Miami.

BV hired him a good proven OC in Lebby.

An analyst doesn't get a headset during the game.

His interaction with players would be minimal. Most of his interactions would be with coaches either pre- or post-game.

Exactly

May 14, 2022, 6:05 PM [ in reply to Re: 3...2...1*** ]

Ellington was running through them like butter. The clown rode the bench when they're expecting the run. So he decides to throw the ball, and so their best player comes off the bench to do what he does best. ie. ransack Boyd. And he keeps trying to throw the ball. The Chad completely blew that game.

His season with Allen was their worst since 2005-06

May 14, 2022, 1:30 PM

and they're paying him almost $150k/year. I wonder if he didn't resign to avoid the possibility of getting fired.

11-3 and playoffs. I'm thinking he'd get another shot.

Lucky Johnson

He went 11-3, 3rd round. Prior 2 yrs 10-1, 11-1, 3rd, 2nd rd

May 14, 2022, 3:37 PM [ in reply to His season with Allen was their worst since 2005-06 ]

Not exactly a plummet, nor a firing offense. One year is a small sample size, but he took Allen to an 11-3 record including 3rd round playoff loss to perennial powerhouse, Southlake Carrol. The prior 2 years Allen went 10-1 with a 3rd round playoff loss, and 11-1 with a 2nd round playoff loss under their legendary state-championship-winning coach (Terry Gambill). Chad Morris also won 3 state titles as a HS coach earlier in his career. I doubt that he forgot how to coach nor that he was on the hot seat.

The reports are that he landed a better college gig. And I suspect that the reason that he took the Allen job was due to a contractual obligation under his Arkansas contract that he had to seek gainful employment-- the salary of which would reduce Arky's buyout.

I appreciate what he did for us but don’t want him back. I too believe he is always looking. I’ll also say it again that he’s not a college HC. He did poorly at SMU and sucked at Arkansas. He can recruit but cannot put all the pieces together. Both coaches that followed him did much better with his guys tgan he did. If he were smart he’d find a great OC position and stay put. That’s what he is best at.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He inherited a 1-11 SMU team, then went 2-10, 5-7, & 7-5.

May 15, 2022, 5:21 PM

I think he did a good job recruiting and turning SMU around. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if he had stayed there. I was hoping he would risk staying and building SMU, waiting for a plum job (like Napier did), rather than jumping early for the guaranteed life-changing money to go to an Arky program where he had little chance to succeed in the SEC-W).

Give Allen High School Stadium a google

May 16, 2022, 10:56 AM

They spend $60M on a Tahj Mahal type stadium that seats 18,000 people and has nicer chairback seats and a bigger Jumbotron then most Sun Belt stadiums.

2 years later the foundation was cracking and they needed to dump even more money into it to fix the problem. Even at 18,000 capacity it's still 'only' the 5th largest HS stadium in Texas.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That’s comparable to what we spent on Littlejohn improvements recently.
