At some point, enough is enough....

Oct 29, 2014, 5:21 PM

and that point has been passed weeks ago.

The Cole Stoudt bashing and jokes have gotten out of hand, and, IMO, I wish the mods would delete every one of them.

I will be the first to admit that I was on the Watson bandwagon from the beginning and said some things that I wish could take back about Cole.

I have never seen so many Clemson fans attack one of their own. Or have I ever seen so many Clemson fans use him as the brunt of jokes.

He wears that Orange and paw with pride, and we, as fans, should show some pride for EVERY player that has dedicated themselves to Clemson. He has spent as much time on the practice field as the best players on the team.

It is not his fault that he does not have the skills that Watson has. It is not his fault he is the only QB that we have that can be playing at this time. He, like, Watson is injured. He just happens to have an injury that does not require him to not use his hand as a QB.

Just because you do not like the way he plays or that his skills are not what YOU want them to be, please consider that he is human, too. You should put yourself or your son or family member in his place and then see if it is so funny.

IMO, he is doing the best that he can, and under the circumstances, better than most people would do with injuries and trying to live up to fan expectations of him. He is probably trying too hard at times just to make fans get off his back.

He is what we have right now. Ugly as some of the last 2 wins were, they were still wins. The defense kept us in the game, but he has had some drives that helped us win, also.

So, please, think before you post about him. He may be a young man that some will say he should realize that things like this will be said and should deal with them. But, the bottom line is, he is human just like all of us. None of us want to hear or read negative things about ourselves. That is obvious on this board. How many arguments and mile long threads have you seen here just because someone did not like what another said about them?

He is a TIGER and deserves the respect of a TIGER. IMO, most of this began when the coaches kept saying he was the starter after we had seen Watson play. That, my Tiger friends, is not Cole's fault. He seems now to get more negative remarks than Dabo and Morris when they made their decision. But, right now, there is no other decision to make.

Oct 29, 2014, 5:55 PM [ in reply to Miss that guy....*** ]

The coaches (Dabo and Morris) catch a little bit of responsibility for the things being said about Cole. When the fans could see what Dabo was unwilling to admit (that Watson was better) and he kept running Cole out there against UGA with nothing changing. I remember watching the clock and thinking, "if we can get Watson back in we will have a chance." Then saying he gave us the best chance to win against FSU. He set Cole up for failure with the fan base knowing we had a freshman phenom sitting behind him. At least that is my opinion,

Re: Miss that guy....***

Oct 30, 2014, 5:16 PM

We have to make and account for our own choices regardless of what someone else says or does. Cole hasn't performed at the level most of us thought he would, and he has made some miserable mistakes. But in no way does he deserve to be disrespected as some on here have done in assassinating his ability and his character. IMO, Cole would be a very good QB in an offense with a good O Line and a work horse RB. Given time to go through his progression, he could pick a great defense apart. He just isn't quick footed enough for OUR style offense....

Re: At some point, enough is enough....

agree.

I said "It is not his fault he is the only QB that we have that can be playing at this time."..meaning that maybe the coaches have not recruited as they should or have coached the other QB's to be ready to play.

I also said "He is what we have right now."...meaning that our starter is hurt and bashing him and making fun of him is not the way to go.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

look man... i agree with your sentiment... but my point

is that there are how many registered users here? Tens of thousands?

We have a guy that hasn't played very well this year. It happens. To come on a message bored and suggest that some injustice is being done is a little over the top.

Are people piling on Cole at times? Sure. If you read this bored during games, it's awful.

But, as a general rule, I don't see anyone on here bashing him. Talking about his poor play? Yes. Degrading? I don't think so.

you can't post something like that, and expect everyone to say, "yep, stop talking about how cole's playing"...

Completely agree. Many posts have been aimed at his will to win and/or his gameday acumen. I cannot imagine anyone knocking a kid that has given this university everything he has , and is leaving it in the field everytime out.
Oh and fwiw ...we are 3-2 in games he started and he should get cred for the Louisville win in as much as he played 90% against that nasty defense.

I am not trying to tell people what to post, but am saying that enough is enough about Cole. His skills may not be the best and people are entitled to post their opinions about that...but it should be done in the way they agreed to when they registed for TigerNet

Remember that our student athletes are first and foremost Tigers. Additionally they work tirelessly through blood, sweat and tears to represent Clemson to the best of their ability. They deserve our respect. While on these forums we encourage constructive criticisms of athletic performance, but please refrain from extremisms. For example, there is never an instance when you should say this player is the ?worst player ever,? or so and so ?sucks.? Keep criticisms of a player to a reasonable evaluation of their performance on the field.

Oct 29, 2014, 11:05 PM

Cole reminds me of a Pert Plus commercial when he takes his helmet off. He has cool hair, I'm 39 and been losing my hair for years,

Now for the serious part. Yes, for now he is the Clemson QB. If Dabo and Morris had a little more nads from the get go he never would have started a game this year barring an injury, like say a......broken finger. But that is neither here or there since they could not pull the trigger on actually starting the best QB from the get go. I believe when Cole came in for his first series of downs in Athens, people were actually excited about him. I was. I looked at my dad and said, "watch this dad, you're not gonna see Cole get rattled like Boyd. And I loved Boyd, don't get me wrong. Then he started playing. If I remember he ran well on his first rush. I was excited. At some point, I believe around the 5th possession, Watson came in and was throwing lasers. He absolutely blew my mind. Every time he came in he made the most of his opportunity. As the game went on I realized that Dabo did one of the things he does best. He sold us on the idea that Cole was the best QB and actually won the job. I believe if Watson hadn't gitten injured during Spring ball Dabo may have had to break whatever promise he made to Cile about his senior year.

The 2nd half solidified my thoughts, I asked my dad, "why not give Watson more chances? Every time they use him we do well and it seems the team plays flat when Cole is playing." Watson was making throws in traffic that Cole didn't have the nerve to throw or the arm. He also has very elusive feet. As the game went on and Dabo and Morris kept putting Cole out there I felt resentment as I saw a very important opener against the SEC slipping away. We continued getting terrible field position. Cole continued going 3 and outs we kept punting from behind our own 10. The defense finally was gassed and we lost. I thought to myself that the turnout could've been different if Watson got the majority of snaps.

We went from no QB controversy and Dabo saying he thought it was pretty sad during his press conference that he was being asked about Watson after Cole played such a great game, to giving over the reigns from a senior to the freshman phenom in the 3rd game. Unfortunately for Cole fans are just that.,,fanatics. We get excited and we blame the QB Dabo puts in there- especially when we feel we could have won the FSU game and possibly the UGA game had Watson started. The negative energy gets focused at Cole,

Once we finally got Watson and he started and played exceptional against UNC and NCST we got excited. Watson goes back out due to an injury and Cole comes back playing worse than he did before Watson took the job. He plays with lots of hesitation, fear, and makes a lot of mistakes. You have to unspderstand that Boyd got talked about on here. His house got egged. And Boyd did tons more for the strength of this team than Cole has. So to think Cole is untouchable on a sports forum is crazy. Like I said, he is probably a great guy. I am too, but I can't play QB.

For the record, we have won the last 3 games despite the terrible play of Cole. The defense, Artavis Scott, Mike Williams, and Gallman have helped immensely.

Keep your head up Cole, it's not personal. Deshaun, get well soon because we cannot win against GT or SC without you unless we shut them out.
