So why can't Cain play RB

Feb 3, 2015, 9:15 PM

His highlight reels are very fun to watch. He has more experience there. AND he has great size to be able to hold blocks. Wasn't Gurly 6'2 200lbs as a freshman. I know we got a logjam at RB but c'mon if the guy is just better why stick him at WR. Even Gallman and Dye got stuffed in short yardage situations last year. I 100% agree with Cain's coach that we are about to get the most dynamic player in this years recruiting cycle.

He's a natural WR and will start the 1st game and product over a 1000 yards. Plus at the next level WR make far more money than RB.

This. Though you may see him in a hybrid wilcat/QB

package, similar to what USuC did some with Cooper....a basic wildcat with more pass options.

But he'll be at receiver most of the time.

Because we need him to be our wildcat?

This would take a huge need to run load off D. Watson. He want have to weather so many storms just to keep the offense rolling. There will be playmakers all around him. "Pick Your Poison"

You need 3 starting WRs......he'll be the third. I think you'll see hopper fade from the mix a little next year.

Listen, I know everyone is super excited about Cain. Heck, I am too. He's gonna make great receiver at Clemson. This isn't his year though. Maybe I'm biased because I also went to Dorman, but Peake is gonna have a monster year. He's finally gonna be healthy and he's gonna light it up with Watson throwing him the ball.

I think we all hope Peake has a monster year, but unfortunately it's gotten to the point where we aren't necessarily going to rely on him being available all of the time. Again, we all hope he's 100% healthy for the year and know he's an All-American talent if he is, but it's a wait-and-see situation with Peake.

However, there are always opportunities. There need to be substitutions and I think guys like Cain & McCloud will be pushing the guys in front of them very hard for playing time--even if they are talents like Peake & Scott.

At one point we had Nuk, Sammy, Bryant, Humphries, Brown

Ect. They rotated all game. Cain will get plenty of snaps in.

We are possibly going to be more deep at receiver than we were a few years ago when we had all those great receivers. Having so many fresh players who can make a play will make us dominate the secondary of other teams.

Keepon Fresh Coach!!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We will score so many points every WR we have will get snaps

Feb 3, 2015, 9:55 PM

we are deep at WR and we will need it. Once we get the train rolling we will need fresh legs to stomp on throats.

I know it would probably be stupid - but imagine Tay Scott and Cain on jet sweeps from both sides on the same play. How do you cover that? You pick wrong or fail to cover properly and it ORANGE in the End zone.

Re: So why can't Cain play RB

Feb 4, 2015, 12:33 AM

That would be too many men in motion. I think that mccloud is more of a sweep guy than cain. Cain could do it and be great at it but he is a boundary receiver all day. He is a faster Nuk but not quite as good of hands. To me he is a Sammy/Nuk hybrid. Tay is like a shorter Sammy. All you have to do to cause nightmares is put Williams, cain, mccloud, and Tay in whatever order or formation and it's uncover able with a healthy Deshaun.

Yea, McCloud is definitely the more desirable jet sweep player out of the two.

LOL, Gurley isn't even 6'0''

Feb 3, 2015, 11:06 PM

Cain was born to play WR

Well I imagine Cain will get time at a few different positions. He may throw it , he will certainly have it handed to him and the passes he will catch will be highlighted on ESPN in the very near future .
Gonna be a lot of Deon Cain for us all to enjoy .

This type of recruitment can and should open many dimensions to the playbook. Will be fun to watch again.
