At least there is one professional in columbia

Sep 28, 2012, 12:40 AM

My critiques of Spurrier or any other sports figure, cannot be personal. It is all about doing my job as a columnist, and that is to provide an opinion, and provoke thought, about sports. - Ron Morris

It appears to me that most S.Carolina fans don't want anyone

Sep 28, 2012, 7:55 AM

in the media to ever, EVER be critical of anything associated with University of South Carolina football. Now there has not been much to be critical about the last year and a third in terms of how they've played, it's been good; but there has been plenty of off the field stuff over the last few years that needed to be called out. And from what I can tell, anyone who is remotely critical of any of this is vilified. Which has also led me to conclude that the vast majority of carolina fans don't care about anything off the field related as long as they can get away with it and as long as it helps them win more ballgames.

USuC football is perfect in everyway.

Even when they went 0-21.

I think their athletic programs have been losing programs for the vast majority of their existence. Because of that,
they will do anything to be perceived as winners. They
will also say/do anything to try and make Clemson look bad.

You are kidding right? Clemson is the KING of not wanting bad publicity and they don't get it from the Greenville News or any small town local papers. Cover ups are the norm up thar. Everybody knows that. SC would like to be afforded the same privilege. You do realize that there are Clemson fans working for the State that push this kind of stuff don't you?

figured it out, the orange helicopters will be coming after you.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone's not out to get you..........or, to paraphrase in your case:

"just because you're stupid, doesn't mean you're not REALLY STUPID."

You're kidding right?!?

I'll be the very first in line to say that most of my USC brethren are a little thin skinned when it comes to Ron Morris. I've also seen, on too many occasions to count, folks get up in arms when the media paints Clemson in an unfavorable light.

My issue with Ron Morris is that he has a clear cut agenda to degrade the personalities he covers. He had a well documented axe to grind with Lou Holtz that carried over to the Spurrier tenure. There is a big difference is writing a column that questions your QB starting (I thought he should sit too BTW) vs. accusing the coach of playing someone hurt and risking a young mans career. I personally know the Shaw's and, I can assure you, Mom and Dad nor Connor were going to risk anything. I guess its one of those deals where the fans aren't at practice and certainly not in the medical room.

That said, for Ron Morris to go on the air and accuse Coach Spurrier of running a program akin to Penn State is WAY over the top and worthy of the ire he is receiving from Spurrier AND Ray Tanner. I know most of you hate SOS but have respect for Tanner and, no doubt, it's Ray that's fully behind this.

that he will say or do anything,

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Kornblut has done the same thing, and to the kids

Sep 28, 2012, 10:35 AM [ in reply to You're kidding right?!? ]

which I think is worse. The Coaches should be able to handle this stuff. 18-22 year olds just trying to get to the next level or get a degree shouldn't be on the end of a biased attack

I immediately stopped reading this post after this incredibly stupid statement. Go back to fgf and pretend somebody there gives an eff what you think or say.

agree with him but for a head football coach to throw a tantrum like a three year old is unbelievable.
