Dsl ...and satellite are not good choices.

HiPeople use them because they have to.
Fiber and cable are your 2 best option. fiber is more expensive ...and very limited.
The answer is cable. It has many draw backs but right now that is what you have.
5G is suppose to be a game changer but I haven't seen that yet.
I have cable, spectrum, and I'm on their +10 plan

5g has not lived up to its hype IMO. I see very little difference. Maybe the infrastructure isn't fully built out.

We only have one internet provider where I live now...

Comporium. AT&T doesn't service my area. My previous service was with Spectrum and I had the $99 cable/internet/phone bundle. So I'm paying more now for internet & YouTubeTV.

and they don't have competition in our area because they claim some special exemption because they service 'rural' areas (or so I hear)...there's nothing rural about Ft Mill/Rock Hill area these days.

Left Comcast tv but kept internet only for YouTube TV. It’s about $75 per month for 250mbps incl. modem rental.

Fiber from Carolina Connect, 100 mb up & down, for $50 per month, and that includes all equipment...router & battery backup. 500 mb & 1 GB are also available.
Then, I have YouTube TV for $65.

Comcast has my neighborhood on monopoly. no other providers available. But to keep the bill down I have my own modem and pay 50 a month for 250/15. which is plenty for our needs. Also, every year the contract runs out and they try and jack the bill up i just cancel the service. and open a new account in my wifes name for the same "new customer" deal. Then after a year she calls and cancels and it goes back in my name to keep the "new customer" rates. Been working that system for 6 years. Actually have been called out on it twice and just said..."so what" and they couldn't say anything about it.

I kept my Charter/Spectrum internet (currently with about 200 Mbps download speed). I only had to pay $5 more per month for internet service. It was worth it to get rid of the $100+ cable service.

And I don't get these $100 tv bills.
The select tv package is like $60.
All together is around $120 month for internet and tv.
You must have had a bunch of addons.
I currently have their +10 package. Paying $101 for internet and those 10 channels.
If it was 15 channels I would be in hog heaven.

my bundle bonus years ago.
When I called to cancel, they asked what they could do to keep me as a customer. Of course, I said, “Drop my bill, with tax, below $100.” They came back with something around $125. I said no. They replied that they could give the bundle price if I called back in a couple of weeks. I said to give it to me now, or I’m gone. They said they couldn’t. So, I canceled and went with Hulu + Live TV because I knew they had the ACCN. Hulu went up $10 after first year. Still no regrets.

You can only get the 200 M with 5G. You wireless card has to be a 5G card if you can only use 2G then your speed is lonely around 50 to 100 M.

We have 1G ATT fiber. It’s cheaper than cable (especially so if you already have ATT wireless). Plus, they give you free access to the new HBO Max service.

I just switched over to NetZero. It’s free, but more than the average number of pron ads. It’s dual-up.

I have Spectrum too with Apple TV , Movie Channels, ESPN, 400 MB internet download speed, 20 MB upload speed rarely any lose in streaming service plus I have phone / fax service with a price guarantee of $149.00.
I can take my able box and get Apple TV where ever there is internet. Speed of important is a factor.
I have had AT&T, and another service but so far Charter Spectrum is the best service I have so far.
